New Orleans, the residents are returning!
The wail of police sirens is back and gunfire once again punctuates the night. As drug dealers move into houses damaged by flooding, alarmed residents say that in the last few weeks they have begun to sense a return to the bad old days before Hurricane Katrina, when crime was an omnipresent straitjacket on life in this city.
In a city that once led the United States in homicides per capita, crime has long been a leading indicator of its health and prospects – an unavoidable part of the equation for a walk around the block or a trip to the grocery store.
That diminished greatly after the storm, when hundreds of thousands of people were evacuated. But there are signs that New Orleans’s past may be returning, with a new twist.
Police officials said the post-Katrina landscape of abandoned houses, stretching block after block, is being incorporated into a revived drug trade, with the empty dwellings offering an unexpected convenience to dealers returning from Houston and Atlanta.
Well it’s good to see that through the leadership of Mayor Nagin and the tireless efforts of Governor Blanco that New Orleans is coming back, despite no help from the Bush administration.
Yes, soon Mayor Nagin’s dream of a chocolate city will be fulfilled, thwarting the neocon attempts at genocide by flood (as Minister Louis Farrakhan pointed out).
Just goes to show what Liberal Democrats can do when they put their minds to it, even with no help from outside!!!
I’m still waiting for Michael Moore to make a blockbuster documentary chronicling the attempt to destroy New Orleans to embarass the Democrat Leadership. Then the intentional failure to assist Governor Blamco and Mayor Nagin even as they pleaded with Washington for help, before the disater even unfolded!!! I mmean, those were Americans in trouble there whose tax dollars go to subsidize the rich and corporations! Why couldn’t they get a few of their tax dollars back?
Anyway, Moore could call it “Farenheit New Orleans!!!”

Is RAY NAGIN there welcoming the dope pedalers with open arms after forcing the people to leave their homes? frankly he and the drug smugglers should all be sent to prison and they should throw away the key and feed them on bread and water:roll:
