Rep. Cynthia McKinney admits that she broke government rules by spending money to fly a celebrity to Atlanta.

Channel 2 Action News has uncovered documents showing McKinney, D-Ga., spent about $1,000 of taxpayer’s money to fly singer Isaac Hayes to Georgia to help dedicate a new office in Atlanta.
The money came from a fund members of Congress are supposed to use for office supplies.

Using the money to pay for Hayes’ airline ticket and hotel expenses is a violation of strict congressional rules. Those rules state that taxpayer money can only be used for “travel by Members, Members’ employees and vendors. A vendor is an employee of a private company that provides maintenance and support for equipment and software…”

Watchdog groups call taxpayer-funded celebrity travel a blatant waste of taxpayer money.

McKinney staffers say they will reimburse the congressional fund for the cost of Hayes’ flight and hotel room.

TIME to resign, Congresswoman KcKinney. Why:

    1. Elitist, cavalier attitude. The “public servant” thinks she is the master.

    2. Playing the race card. Racism won’t go away until people stop focusing on race. She sounds like a racist.

    3. Criminal behavior: Assault and battery on a Police Officer is a felony.

    4. Misuse of taxpayer funds (the subject of this thread).

But you got to ask what are office supplies to this person?
the fact is we have no real rules or laws only the rule of power, and that is why the third world is poor because of its own people, and that is why we have no real government because the third world’s people are now inside government.

“People make a government”, and if you say no to that statement, “you don’t understand the world and its people”.

The question the MSM should be asking every day, pounding on incessantly, is when will McKinney resign?

    Why aren’t they?

nothing so blatent as Perjury, assaulting a police officer, murder, rape, etc… would EVER force a kind, compassionate, well-meaning liberal to resign.

Sorry. That’s true, Mike, I guess I just got out of my Liberal mode for a moment, long enough to make that ridiculous statement!

In my defense, I can only offer the excuse that I temporarily forgot that it is only Republicans that are capable of corruption and misdeed in office, and that must be held accountable!

Mike #12, now that I’m in Liberal Democrite mode, I can easily explain that away: First of all, none of those things really happen with Democrites, such allegations are the manipulations of the vast Right-wing conspiracy! And even if they did, it would be their personal business, and have nothing to do with their job in office!

That’s right! Who are YOU to tell a black woman who she can and can’t assault!? It’s her business… just stop it you white, protestant, heterosexual, evil bastard!

Ok, back to Conservative mode. System check:

    Common sense: check!
    Logic: check!
    Reason: check!

    Much better…

I did a little googling on McKinney. She has been a polarizing, hate-Bush, undermine the war on terror, babbling fool for years. Here’s from 2002:

“In a recent interview with a Berkeley, Calif., radio station, McKinney said: “We know there were numerous warnings of the events to come on September 11th. . . . What did this administration know and when did it know it, about the events of September 11th? Who else knew, and why did they not warn the innocent people of New York who were needlessly murdered? . . . What do they have to hide?”

McKinney declined to be interviewed yesterday, but she issued a statement saying: “I am not aware of any evidence showing that President Bush or members of his administration have personally profited from the attacks of 9-11. A complete investigation might reveal that to be the case.”

Bush spokesman Scott McLellan dismissed McKinney’s comments.

“The American people know the facts, and they dismiss such ludicrous, baseless views,” he said. “The fact that she questions the president’s legitimacy shows a partisan mind-set beyond all reason.”

In the radio conversation, McKinney delivered a stinging attack on the administration. In 2000, she charged, Bush forces “stole from America our most precious right of all, the right to free and fair elections.” With the September attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania, McKinney said, “an administration of questionable legitimacy has been given unprecedented power.”

She suggested that the administration was serving the interests of a Washington-based investment firm, the Carlyle Group, which employs a number of high-ranking former government officials from both parties. Former president George H.W. Bush — the current president’s father — is an adviser to the firm. McKinney said the war on terrorism has enriched Carlyle Group investors by enhancing the value of a military contractor partly owned by the firm.

Carlyle Group spokesman Chris Ullman asked: “Did she say these things while standing on a grassy knoll in Roswell, New Mexico?”

During her five terms in office, McKinney has often given voice to radical critiques of U.S. policy, especially in the Middle East. She defied the State Department to investigate assertions that international sanctions are brutalizing innocent Iraqis. ”

TIME for her to resign, now. I hope the Capitol Police charge her to the fullest extent of the law. Then exile her to Cuba.
