Another Vet Speaks Out Against Murtha

Michelle Malkin references this op-ed in the WaPo, written by Wade Zirkle, a marine who served 2 tours in Iraq before being injured. He takes on John Murtha, over his statements towards our troops.

Murtha undoubtedly knows full well that the greatest single thing that drags on morale in war is the loss of a buddy. But second to that is politicians questioning, in amplified tones, the validity of that loss to our families, colleagues, the nation and the world.
While we don’t question his motives, we do question his assumptions. When he called for an immediate withdrawal from Iraq, there was a sense of respectful disagreement among most military personnel. But when he subsequently stated that he would not join today’s military, he made clear to the majority of us that he is out of touch with the troops. Quite frankly, it was received as a slap in the face.

Like so many others past and present, I proudly volunteered to serve in the military. I served one tour in Iraq and then volunteered to go back. Veterans continue to make clear that they are determined to succeed in Iraq. They are making this clear the best way they can: by volunteering to go back for third and sometimes fourth deployments. This fact is backed up by official Pentagon recruitment reports released as recently as Monday.

The morale of the trigger-pulling class of today’s fighting force is strong. Unfortunately, we have not had a microphone or media audience willing to report our comments. Despite this frustration, our military continues to proudly dedicate itself to the mission at hand: a free, democratic and stable Iraq and a more secure America.

  1. You’ve been over there and you still believe that there can be a “free, democratic and stable Iraq”? In what alternate universe? Maybe you can blog about how that might happen. What the U.S. has done is sow the whirlwind of anarchy and death. The U.S. is responsible for every beheading, every car bombing, every batch of bodies with their brains blown out, because we started the instability. When it was Saddam doing the killing, it was his fault. Now it’s ours, and it’s not going to stop. It will spread to Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia too. This will destabilise the world economy and ultimately undermine your country. The U.S. used to be my country too but I emigrated to Australia last year to get away from such madness. God help your soul when the U.S. kills millions with the upcoming nuclear attack on Iran.

  2. Hey Bukko……did you hear what Zacarias Moussaoui said at trial yesterday? Muslims should dominate the world and all infidels should be either killed or made to pay a fee to remain alive on earth. Wow! Is this what you believe in too? For surely you jest with your post.

  3. good riddance, Bukkake boy!!!!

did george W. Bush cause muslim animals to take Israeli athletes hostage in Munich 1n 1972?

did george W. Bush cause muslim animals to bomb flight 103 over scotland in 1983?

did george W. Bush cause muslim animals to hijack a cruise ship in 1985 and dump a crippled man overboard?

did george W. Bush cause muslim animals to bomb the WTC in 1992?

did george W. Bush cause muslim animals to bomb US embassies in Africa in 1997?

did george W. Bush cause muslim animals bomb the USS Cole in 2000?

did george W. Bush cause muslim animals bomb the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia in 1996?

did george W. Bush cause muslim animals to blow up jews on Tel Aviv buses?

    hmmmm…seems not.

  4. seems to me like the “whirlwind of anarchy and death” has been going on for some time….BY MUSLIM FUCKING ANIMALS.
