“Republicans hate Latinos” Says Dolores Huerta
Dolores Huerta, co-founder of the United Farm Workers Union, spoke at Tucson High. According to Huerta, she was asked to speak at the school as part of the effort to keep students in school.
Senior Mon-yee Fung,17, voluntarily attended an assembly where co-founder of the United Farm Workers Union Dolores Huerta spoke, but could not leave after Huerta began saying “Republicans hate Latinos.”
Does it stop there?
“I wanted to listen to what they had to say, but all they had to say was hate speak,” said Fung, head of the school’s Teenage Republicans Club. “They’re saying that I don’t like Mexicans or that I don’t try to understand what they’re doing, but I am trying to understand.”
State Rep. Jonathan Paton, R-Tucson, wants Fung to tell her story to Fox News today at 5 p.m.
“She was forced to listen to a political speech for over 40 minutes,” Paton said. “To me that’s a real problem because we shouldn’t have the schools as a forum for political speech. They should be a forum for education.”
I heard the audio on O’Reilly, and she had the students repeat after her “Republicans hate Latinos” I don’t know what is worse though..that or the reaction from the principal!
Tucson High Principal Abel Morado said he was unaware of the incident involving Fung.
Students were told they could go to the assembly or the library, but the library locked because of miscommunication.
“I did learn after the fact that the library was closed,” Morado said. “It may have been that the librarian chose to go to the assembly. That’s my responsibility.”
Morado said the school is a “wonderful venue” to see the opposing sides of an issue, but acknowledged that no effort has been made on his part to bring in somebody who supports the controversial immigration bill, HR 4437.
“I don’t see that it is my role to turn around and say that “OK, we’ve had this speaker, now let’s turn around and get this speaker,” he said. “If there was somebody in favor of that and they wanted to speak at Tucson High, I wouldn’t oppose that if my students invited them or if my teachers invited them.”
Just who brings the opposing view into his school? And isn’t it his responsibility, as principal, to make sure that a well balanced lesson is taught? If it isn’t his job, who’s is it?

That “giant sucking sound” you’re hearing are Latino voters FLOCKING to Democrats.
Your team is losing BIG TIME on this one.
Get a clue. This will be the largest voting population in the coming decades, and you people are SPITTING on them.
Your side is making this almost TOO EASY for the Democrats to pick up future voters…IN SOUTHERN AND WESTERN STATES. Just where we need them.
Thank you!

Am I missing something here? Isn’t Mon Yee Fung an immigrant? If not, aren’t her parents immigrants? So why is she so offended by what other immigrants have to say? Everyone is calling this girl a “hero,” but I think she’s a self-serving moron. An immigrant bashing other immigrants – now, we’ve really come full circle.
I was watching this segment and Bill O’Reilly had some really dumb anecdotes. He stated:
Isn’t this indocrination? Shouldn’t someone have been on the other side of the argument to counter balance?
Bill… Moron… School is an indoctrination into society. And the last time I checked, not every speaker was required to go through a debate. Heck, I’ve been through plenty of school propanda concerning cheerleaders, football players, drugs, sex, etc… Regardless of whether I agreed or not, it was part of the school function.
I’m not defending Ms. Heurta’s statements, but Mon Yee Fung is an moron and now I’ve realized this was a waste of time.

Regarding Dolores Huerta’s comment that “…Republicans hate Latinos…” I didn’t know that all those drive-by shooters were Republicans!
