The crutch Sen. Kennedy was referring to was the presence of the American military.  He was nurturing the &quot;bring the troops home&quot; sentiment that&#039;s riding high now.

Removing the crutch of troops in Iraq is totally different from removing the &quot;crutch&quot; of social welfare benefits here in the States.

They&#039;re our own citizens!  It could be your grandmother, our aunt...it could be YOU.</description>
