Would you believe that a University of Minnesota instructor as well as immigration attorney said that? Susana De Leon did indeed say that! Via KSTP:
Comments a University of Minnesota instructor made at a rally are causing controversy about what is and is not considered racist.
Susana De Leon, an activist and part-time instructor of Mexican-American studies, was involved in a verbal confrontation at the rally in Owatonna.
“Yes, people from Europe are wet backs man… their backs so wet because they had to cross an ocean to get here,” De Leon said at the rally.
De Leon is also an immigration attorney who led the rally in Owatonna.
She added that it is not possible for minorities to be racist against white people.
And from KSTP VIDEO: De Leon: “I am so glad my ancestors saved your f–king ass.”

Susana is a Xicana activist who works on issues of social justice in the Latino community. During her life she has been active as a community organizer in the areas of immigration, domestic violence, women’s empowerment and cultural resistance. She is an immigration attorney and a lecturer at the University of Minnesota.
Susana is a recognized leader and frequent speaker with respect to issues of immigrant rights, educational rights, and police abuse of authority. She is a Board Member of the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild. She has worked with a number of community organizations, including ISAIAH (a faith based pro-immigrant group), the Local Impacts Working Group (which passed resolutions in St. Paul and Minneapolis barring police questioning about immigration status), Women of the Red River Valley, Centro Campesino, Immigrant Women Coalition Against Violence, Casa de Esperanza, Peacemaker Center, La Escuelita, La Raza Student Cultural Center, and the Minnesota Human Rights Center. In those efforts she has regularly met with and presented to elected representatives, including Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak, U.S. Senator Mark Dayton, U.S. Senator Norm Coleman, and city and state elected officials. She also resists oppression and racism through her leadership of Kalpulli QuetzalCoatlicue, a traditional Aztec Dancers circle created to empower and train young women and men as leaders in the Mexican community of south Minneapolis. She is also the mother of a seven year old daughter and eleven year old son.

Yes, she might have gone too far in her comment, but it seems all of us (people in the U.S.)forget we are immigrants. The only people who NATIVELY belong here are native americans. Otherwise, you’re an immigrant, too. “Snowy egret,” I think you need to learn how to spell correctly before you criticize illegal “aliens” and mexican “criminals.” Buy a dictionary, PLEASE! Also, why must everyone use the term “alien,” to refer to the illegal aliens? Are they that much beneath you that you must refer to them that way? No one asked you to leave, either, ok? Lastly, let’s say someone tried passing an immigration bill just like the current one, being debated now, during the time when your first ancestor came to the U.S.. Would you feel the same way? Because the term “ALIEN” is the correct term. An alien is any foreign national residing in a country of which they are not a citizen. Get yourself a dictionary.
As for us all being immigrants, you’re right, we are. The difference is my ancestors came here through the legal channels, not by crossing the border in the middle of the night in violation of the immigration laws. My grandfather went through Ellis Island LEGALLY. Not by entering the country by sneaking across the border ILLEGALLY. He paid for sea passage from Poland, he went through a medical check, and had a sponsor. He didn’t come across the border carrying illegal drugs (we had over 100 lbs of meth confiscated from Illegal Aliens in under a week), committing violent crimes, using the local ERs for medical care without paying to the point of many of the ERs having to close (The nearest one to my house was closed for over 6 months until the federal government gave them money to reopen their doors), didn’t engage in running gun battles on our freeways (we’ve had two with multiple deaths in the last 18 months). He didn’t steal cars, throw trash all over the place, or rape female immigrants. All of these things are routine occurrences along the southern border of Arizona. He also assimilated and learned the language. He didn’t even speak Polish in the home. We didn’t have to paint street signs in different languages for him. That is a person who is wanting to IMMIGRATE not invade. It costs a fortune to pay for all of the translators.
I recently had a discussion with the owner of a small shopping center. He put up no loitering signs but because of a city ordinance he had to put them up in SPANISH as well as English. The preamble to the Constitution starts off with “We, the People” Not “Nosotros, los …” When they learn to speak English, come across the border legally, they’ll be more than welcome. Until that time, they need to stay where they belong. Otherwise, we need to change our illegal immigration laws to match those of Mexico. When that passes, we won’t have to deport them, they’ll run for the border on their own.

Olivia clearly just has no respect for those of us whose ancestors paid, waited, filed the appropriate paperwork and left everything behind to COME HERE LEGALLY.
She thinks that, as long as you are BROWN, you should be able to jump a fucking fence and be entitled to everything that OUR ANCESTORS worked to build this nation into.
