CANNES Pans Da Vinci Code But They Loved Moore?

How serious can you take a film festival that bestowed their highest honor, the prestigious Palme d’Or best film award on Michael Moore yet pans the work of actual talent?

“The Da Vinci Code” drew lukewarm praise, shrugs of indifference, some jeering laughter and a few derisive jabs Tuesday from arguably the world’s toughest movie crowd: critics at the Cannes Film Festival

“It’s a movie about whether the greatest story ever told is true or not, and it’s not the greatest movie ever screened, is it?” said Baz Bamigboye, a film columnist for London’s Daily Mail. “As a thriller, well,” he continued, shrugging.

Now keep in mind this is how they played up Moore’s trash!

”Fahrenheit 911” is Michael Moore’s reflections on the current state of America, including
the powerful role oil and greed may have played after the 9-11 attacks. In
this provocative exposé, Moore will tell the one story no one has dared to
tell as he reveals the events that led the US into that apocalyptic September
11th moment and why the country is now at war.

As much as I hate sitting in a theater, I will go see this over the weekend! If they panned it, it must be good! Besides, has Ron Howard ever done anything that was a flop?

My response about the Cannes response on Michael Moore was “well do you expect? Cannes is in France. Home of the Pal D’or and the Flag de Blanc.”
