“It’s The Soldier”

By: Pam On: May/29/06 - 19 Comments

“It’s the Soldier, not the reporter
who has given us the freedom of the press.

It’s the Soldier, not the poet,
who has given us the freedom of speech.

It’s the Soldier, not the politicians
that ensures our right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

It’s the Soldier who salutes the flag,
who serves beneath the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag.”

All the pontificating and grandstanding by the journalists, the politicians, the pundits, etc. added together don’t equal the contribution of one member of the Armed Forces who has died in the service of the United States.”

Thanks To Robert for reminding us all of this timeless treasure!

There are 50,000 veterans living in San Francisco, more veterans than in 40 states.

There are 1.3 million veterans in Northern California.

One of every nine new service members comes from California.

Huu-ahh! I inspired a new topic on Right Voices! I am very proud.

Today I drove a vehicle in the Memorial Day Parade in Gilroy, California. It was great to see all of the families, of various colors, out enjoying the beautiful day. The kids and their parents waving the American flag reminded me that there are many good Americans out there.

    SF.. no offense, but….
There are 50,000 veterans living in San Francisco, more veterans than in 40 states.

There are 1.3 million veterans in Northern California.

One of every nine new service members comes from California.

and NONE OF WHOM, ARE YOU!

I’d be willing to let that slide, except for your daily undermining of our troops, our president and our efforts to win a war against fanatical muslim animals.

SFL true, but let’s tell the rest of the story:

There are 50,000 veterans living in San Francisco, more veterans than in 40 states.

And they live in an area that generally despises the military. The SF County Stupidvisors wouldn’t let the historic battleship “Iowa” be brought to SF as a museum, because it is a symbol of militarism.

There are 1.3 million veterans in Northern California.
One of every nine new service members comes from California.

Yes, and the vast majority of California, area wise, is decidedly Conservative, pro-military, pro-2nd Amendment, and defends the Constitution.

It is just a few coastal areas (SF Bay, LA, etc.) that make Cali a “blue” state overall. But the vast majority of the Counties vote Conservative.

“One of every nine new service members comes from California….and NONE OF WHOM, ARE YOU!”

So what? Cheney didn’t serve his country in the military, does that make him any less of an American or any less of a leader?

    —————————————–

“The SF County Stupidvisors wouldn’t let the historic battleship “Iowa”be brought to SF as a museum, because it is a symbol of militarism.”

So what? Maybe when YOU get elected to public office here in SF, you can change that…

Besides, it’s not like SF doesn’t already have WW2 Liberty ships and a WW2 era-sub for tourists already…(!) Many pro-Iowa folks often don’t realize there is already an aquatic park here in SF with half a dozen warships of various sizes and shapes…

    —————————————————–

“And they live in an area that generally despises the military.”

How can that be true if 1 out of 9 new recruits come from CA, and over 1.3 million vets live in NorCal?

You have it all wrong. We don’t “despise the military”; we despise needless death and destruction.

    ————————————————-

“It is just a few coastal areas (SF Bay, LA, etc.) that make Cali a “blue”state overall. But the vast majority of the Counties vote Conservative.”

HA! In your dreams, Robert! Granted there is quite a nice solid line splitting the red interior from the blue coast, but the sheer numbers of people living on the Blue Coast FAR outnumber those conservatives living in the interior…

If it was the way you say it is, then we wouldn’t have the CA state Assembly and Senate DOMINATED by Democrats, like it currently is…

    You exaggerate, mi amigo.

I don’t care what the F Cheney did, it’s you that’s here touting about who does and dosen’t serve..and, as a veteran, it’s more than a little offensive.

I would prefer you just said, “Thank you”

“So what? Maybe when YOU get elected to public office here in SF, you can change that:”

So what? So that is another fact point to prove my point, that’s what. Dodging and weaving again…

Besides, it’s not like SF doesn’t already have WW2 Liberty ships and a WW2 era-sub for tourists already:(!)

SF has ONE Liberty Ship (Jeremiah O’Brien) and that little submarine, plus an old sailing ship (and I’ll bet if the Stupidvisors/City Council could, they’d get rid of them). What are the others? You said half a dozen. Playing loose with the facts and munbers again?

HA! In your dreams, Robert! Granted there is quite a nice solid line splitting the red interior from the blue coast, but the sheer numbers of people living on the Blue Coast FAR outnumber those conservatives living in the interior:

Once again, you misunderstand the point of my statement. Kindly reread it. My point exactly was that most of the Counties, most of the area of california, is solidly Conservative. It is just the few cities in the coastal regions that cause it to be a “blue” state.

“I don’t care what the F Cheney did, it’s you that’s here touting about who does and dosen’t serve..and, as a veteran, it’s more than a little offensive.”

Oh, please, spare me. My constitutional right to dissent is just as equally important as your service is. They each serve each other…

This isn’t ancient Rome, MK…there is no special class of citizens who enjoy privilege and power because they served in the Roman Army.

You are 100% equal to me as an American citizen, service or no service. And don’t you forget it.

    ——————————————————

“So what? So that is another fact point to prove my point, that’s what. Dodging and weaving again…”

I guess it went over your head. “So What” means exactly that. Just like the rest of the nation, we elect people to govern for us…and if those elected officials didn’t want that symbol of war here (I happen to disagree with them, I love military history and would love the chance to walk around that particular ship) than that’s that.

And what I said is that if you don’t like it, then move to The City and either vote or run for office and change it. (!)

    ———————————————————–
“SF has ONE Liberty Ship (Jeremiah O’Brien) and that little submarine, plus an old sailing ship (and I’ll bet if the Stupidvisors/City Council could, they’d get rid of them). What are the others? You said half a dozen. Playing loose with the facts and munbers again?”

OK, in addition to the Liberty Ship and the WW2 sub, we have that old sailing ship the Balclutha, C.A. Thayer, Eureka, Alma, Hercules and the Eppleton Hall.

And you’re right Robert – I stand corrected, not all of the half dozen I mentioned are military…but as far as the modern, WW2 warships San Francisco already has TWO…a sub and a liberty ship.

But little facts like that don’t matter to people who easily toss around offensive and untrue terms like “un-American” or “un-Patriotic” because SF elected to not house the USS Iowa…

    ———————————————————–

“My point…was that most of the Counties, most of the area of California, is solidly Conservative. It is just the few cities in the coastal regions that cause it to be a “blue”state.”

Robert, counties are lines on a map. It’s like that lame-ass 2004 Red vs. Blue state map that showed a handful of East/West coast states being blue with the rest of the nation nearly entirely Red. You’d almost forget that the election was 49%/51% looking at something like that!

It looks better than it really is. Those Red/Blue maps don’t show you that the sheer numbers of people living in coastal states like New York and California can outnumber up to 15 to 20 of those big, but thinly populated interior Red states.

So while California may look mostly Red when you look at a county map, you are missing the REAL picture. Counties don’t vote, people do. And CLEARLY California is a DIE-HARD BLUE state with an Assembly and Senate DOMINATED by Democrats – certainly NOT conservatives.

    ———————————————

“I would prefer you just said, “Thank you”"

Of course, thank you…but don’t be arrogant about it and think you’re a better American than others because of that service. (!)

that’s the most pathetic thing I have ever heard in my entire life….

a whiney, sniveling, liberal’s bitching and complaining is as important to the survival of our great nation as those of us who have picked up a weapon in it’s defense?

    you must be joking.

SF, thank you for showing just how stupid you are. Without the soldiers fighting wars and defeating the enemy, we’d be the defeated and living by someone else’s laws. Odds are you wouldn’t have any free speech or right of dissent, SF, if it weren’t for the soldiers and their sacrifices.

You, sir, do not have a clue to life.

big difference between the “bravery” of your average liberal

Veterans Carry weaponns – Liberals carry signs
Veterans believe in the goodness of America – Liberals believe in the equality of nations
Veterans give their lives for this country – Liberals wouldn’t sacrifice a tall Mocha Latte
Veterans share a special bond with their fellow fighting men – liberals feel closer to the French.

    am I wrong?

“a whiney, sniveling, liberal’s bitching and complaining is as important to the survival of our great nation as those of us who have picked up a weapon in it’s defense?”

Yes. (and, BTW, it’s not always a liberal doing the whining and bitching)

Without open and free civic discourse and the constitutional rights/protections that go hand in hand, there would be little worth defending by “picking up a weapon”.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not devaluing military service, I just don’t think – like you apparently do – that it makes you an extra special citizen.

    ———————————————————–

“Odds are you wouldn’t have any free speech or right of dissent, SF, if it weren’t for the soldiers and their sacrifices.”

No PCD, I “wouldn’t have any free speech or right of dissent” if it wasn’t for THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION. The soldier DEFENDS those rights, but the constitution CREATED them.

    ————————————————–

    “Veterans vs. Liberals…Am I wrong?”

Yes, you are wrong. You are generalizing and prejudging…and it always leads to incorrect conclusions.

    refresher:

SF LIB loves the US military men and women, and the traditions of honor and sacrifice.

SF LIB does NOT love the US military civilian leadership, and thinks the current ones are dangerously incompetent.

SF LIB does not glorify war or violence – and most soldiers who actually see/feel combat also do not glorify it.

I believe you do, SFL. But I also believe, as evidenced by their actions, that many/most in SF, as publicly revealed, loathe the military (doesn’t that sound familiar?).

You’re probably right that many here do…

But I would classify them as misguided and only needing some direction to point their rage. I would tell them to focus on the civilian leadership, not the military men and women themselves.

This is an abandoned fund that belongs to the one of our bank customers who died along with his entire family on 25th July,2000 in a plane crash disaster. I was very fortune to meet the deceased file when i was arranging the old and abandoned customers files of 2000-2001 in other to submit to the bankmanagements accordingly for documentation purposes. Following our banking financial policy, it was obviously indicated and signed law fully that if such money remains unclaimed after SIX years without somebody been a foreigner apply and claim the fund as the next of kin , the money will be transferred into the Bank Treasury as an unclaimed fund. So the request of you as a foreigner is necessarily needed for the claim because a citizen of Burkina Faso cannot come forward to claim thefund since the law does not pave a way for an indigene to claim such fund.

Since the real beneficary of the fund died , the bank are expecting the next of kin to apply for the release of the fund for him or her without delay but unfortunately i learnt through the investigations which I carried out that there is nobody behind who can come and claim the fund. Therefore I want you to apply to the bank with your reliable bank account details where ourbank will transfer the fund into, and immediately the fund is transferred into your account ,we will share the fund according to the percentage ratio below.

SIXTY FIVE PERCENT (65%) of the total fund will be for me.TWENTY FIVE PERCENT(25%) for you in provision of the Bank account.FOUR PERCENT(4%) will be for unexpected expenses which may occur during the transfer.SIX PERCENT(6%) will be preserved for helping the helpless people, like charity organization and motherlessbabies.

Thereafter you will help me to visit your country for sharing the money according to the percentage indicated above. So for the immediate transfer of this fund into your bank account as arranged, you must apply first to the bank as the only existing next of kin to the deceased customer and after approval which will take place immediately as you applied, the transfer of the fund into your nominated bank account will proceed. Please note thatyou
should keep this business secret until you confirm the transfer into the bank account which you will provide. And there is NO RISK in this business.

The bank will forward to you all necessary documents related to the transfer and which will prove that you make a legal claim of inheritance.
