Michael Moore Is A Big Fat Liar

A big fat liar that may be forced to relinquish $85 million, if Sgt. Peter Damon wins the lawsuit he brought against Moore.

A double-amputee Iraq-war vet is suing Michael Moore for $85 million, claiming the portly peacenik recycled an old interview and used it out of context to make him appear anti-war in “Fahrenheit 9/11.”

Sgt. Peter Damon, 33, who strongly supports America’s invasion of Iraq, said he never agreed to be in the 2004 movie, which trashes President Bush.

In the 2003 interview, which he did at Walter Reed Army Hospital for NBC News, he discussed only a new painkiller the military was using on wounded vets.

“They took the clip because it was a gut-wrenching scene,” Damon said yesterday. “They sandwiched it in. [Moore] was using me as ammunition.”

Damon seems to “voice complaint about the war effort” in the movie, according to the lawsuit.

But what the father of two from Middleborough, Mass., was really talking about was the “excruciating” pain he felt after he lost his arms when a Black Hawk helicopter exploded in front of him.

Damon wasn’t expressing any opinion about the war, the suit charges, but rather extolling the drug.

“I just want everybody to know what kind of a guy Michael Moore is, and what kind of film this is,” said Damon. He has appeared in two films attacking “Fahrenheit” -”Michael Moore Hates America” and “Fahrenhype 9/11.”

In “Fahrenheit 9/11,” the bandaged National Guardsman is shown laying on a gurney complaining that he feels like he’s “being crushed in a vise. But they [the drugs] do a lot to help it and they take a lot of the edge off it.”

His image appears seconds after Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) says, “You know, they say they’re not leaving any veterans behind, but they’re leaving all kinds of veterans behind.”

Damon – the dad of a 8-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy – doesn’t come close to feeling that way.

“He couldn’t have picked the worst guy to say that about,” he told The Post.

“I’m the most fortunate disabled guy. I’ve even had a house built for me [by a nonprofit group, Home for Our Troops].”

Particularly outrageous to Damon is the fact that Moore never interviewed him or asked his permission to use the old clip.

“I was complaining about the pain I would’ve been having [if it weren't for the painkiller],” he said.

NBC is named in the suit – which was filed in Suffolk County, Mass., on Friday – along with Harvey and Robert Weinstein, Miramax Corp., Lions Gate Films and other production companies involved with the picture.

Newsman Brian Williams ends the NBC clip by adding, “These men, with catastrophic wounds are . . . completely behind the war effort,” according to the lawsuit.

That part, which wasn’t shown in the Moore movie, is a far more accurate depiction of Damon’s feelings, he said.

Lawyer Dennis Lynch said he took the case last year and they held off filing the lawsuit in a bid to settle the matter.

“We attempted to resolve the situation amicably with Mr. Moore [for a year] but he refused,” he said.

Damon is asking for up to $75 million because of “loss of reputation, emotional distress, embarrassment, and personal humiliation.”

In addition, his wife is suing for another $10 million because of the “mental distress and anguish suffered by her spouse.”

Spokeswomen for NBC and Harvey and Robert Weinstein would not comment because they haven’t seen the suit. Lions Gate doesn’t comment on pending litigation, a rep said.

Michael Moore and Miramax reps didn’t return calls for comment.

  4. Dispicable?? Why on earth would you say that? Michael Moore’s films are pure fiction. He superimposes images and cuts and pastes until things are absolutely fictitious. That’s okay of course BUT then he claims them as facts.

I’m glad this man is suing. In this country that’s called libel.

My only regret is that he didn’t get twice that much.

  5. Exactly,

Someone needed to teach that fat, lying, traiterous blowhard a lesson.

Fuck him and his fat, stupid mouth and that ridiculous accent of his…

what’s he gonna lose, some donuts?

    Fat fuck

  6. SF, once again, you dissapoint me as a human. Only a nasty dope smoking, troop spitting, America-hating,,,, IT, would side with Moore on this.

  7. hey John, he “supports the troops” don’t you know???

SF, exactly WHAT does that support consist of, besides empty rhetoric?

  8. Good! bring it on! If I was on the jury, I’d add an extra $50M for punitive damages.

Teach Moore a lesson: Manipulating, misusing, mischaracterizing, lying, propagandizing, undermining the USA, treeason, all of those things will not be rewarded.

Moore is a disgusting, disgraceful pos.

  9. You just knew that SF Liberal would come out on the opposite side of this issue. Purposeful contrarian.

  10. If Michael Moore made movies that were critical of liberals, you guys would be praising him. Face it, it’s not about the truth with people rabidly aligned with the far sides of the spectrum, it’s about hearing what they want to hear.

As for this lawsuit, let’s wait until the fact of this specific case come out.

    ..Chuck..

  11. You are dead wrong Chuck. If Michael Moore made as despicable a movie about conservatives it would still be WRONG. Portraying events and people in a dishonest way is mean spirited. The fact that he exploited 9/11 in the way he did just verifies his sleaze.

    Mike’s right. He’s a fat, treasonous, f k.

The facts will speak for themselves and I hope this man is vindicated big time.

  12. I’m cursious, why did he wait so long to bring the lawsuit? If someone misused my words and made it into a movie, I’d bring a lawsuit the moment I found out about it. :!:

  13. No BonBon, it is you who are wrong about a great many things… I don’t see you making noise about the unsubstantiated yellow cake uranium story that was used as justification for war. All we heard was “WMD this” and “WMD that”, and then when none were found it shifted to constant blathering about “liberating the poor Iraqi people” while sending no-bid contracts out the back door to Cheney’s cronies at Halliburton. Now we hear some vague unsubstantiated notion about “the WMDs were moved before the war”, thus implying that we spend untold hundreds of billions of my grandchildren’s money for nothing.

Taken as individual pieces, none of those things were egregious. No-bid contracts happen all of the time. Bad intelligence happens all of the time. Things have gotten out of control though and someone has to draw a line and point out that the emperor has no clothes. That’s what Michael Moore tried to do for better or for worse.

Big hint: If someone occupied the US, you’d see allies and civilians alike from all over the Christian world finding a way to get over here and fight alongside the US insurgency. You’re seeing the same thing happen in Iraq, but it’s the Muslims coming to the aid of another Muslim nation (fully acknowledging that Saddam wasn’t exactly a Muslim). We’re creating terrorists, not stopping them. US Soldiers are fighting non Iraqis more than they’re fighting Iraqis.

See this? That is the enemy. Not Iraq or any individual country. They want to kill us and turn the world into their Caliphate. George Bush is doing the best he knows how to do. However, this is still America and we have a right, nay DUTY to criticise when things seem like they’re veering in the wrong direction. If the criticism is unwarranted, history will bear out the president.

I personally believe that the President doesn’t get it. The enemy is not Iraq or any one nation. This is no longer like WWII where nations declared war on each other. This is a war of ideology. As a Christian nation we’re willing to “live and let live until you hurt us our any of our allies, in which case we’ll blow your ass up”. Muslim extremists hate us because we support and defend Israel. They are able to take advantage of the poor state of affairs in middle eastern countries to recruit new terrorists. The war we need to fight is the one no one has the courage to fight because it is very messy and is politically unpalatable.

    ..Chuck..

  14. 11- Alyssa- maybe you missed this in the article: Lawyer Dennis Lynch said he took the case last year and they held off filing the lawsuit in a bid to settle the matter.

“We attempted to resolve the situation amicably with Mr. Moore [for a year] but he refused,”he said.

I had heard of this quite awhile ago!

  15. 9- No Chuck I would not. Michael Moore caters to the most ignorant members of our society..I don’t even align him with the Democrats..they were smart enough to see through his bullshit! (maybe too late, but they saw through it nonetheless!)

  16. 13- Chuck it isn’t Bon Bon’s problem that you didn’t pay attention to what was being said for at least a full year before the invasion of Iraq in 03′. There were many reason cited, but the number one reason was because Saddam Hussain vioplated resolution 1441, 19 times. It was up to Saddam to prove he was in compliance. He screwed around. We invaded..

Your attempt to justify Moores actions is laughable Chuck. It was really Dick Clark’s and the State of Michigan’s fault some welfare mom had to work 30 minutes from home at a restaurant with his name on it..therefore she wasn’t home to stop her 5 year old from taking her drug dealer brothers gun to school and blowing his classmates brains all over the playground! (Bowling for Columbine) Or how about how he went after an Altzeimers ridden Charlton Heston..that really was brilliant wasn’t it Chuck?

Take a look at that fat bastards stock portfolio and get back to me on how Moore isn’t a BIG FAT LYING HYPOCRITE!

  17. “You’re seeing the same thing happen in Iraq, but it’s the Muslims coming to the aid of another Muslim nation (fully acknowledging that Saddam wasn’t exactly a Muslim). We’re creating terrorists, not stopping them. US Soldiers are fighting non Iraqis more than they’re fighting Iraqis.”

Chuck you sound like you put on your Turban and tune in Al Jizzeera daily. What a load of crap…

  18. Peejz, I’m fully aware of how Saddam violated resolution 1411, 19 times. It mixes the issue though. Are we going after the 9/11 terrorists or enforcing a UN resolution? The core issue is how the Bush administration tried to tie the two together. Some of us legitimately believe that they are two separate issues. You’d be amazed at how many “bleeding heart liberals” suddenly agree that invading Afghanistan was a killer idea (no pun intended). It’s not the war that most Americans have a problem, it’s the shady justification.

As for Michael Moore, I don’t justify his actions one iota. If you read what I said more carefully you won’t find one bit of justification. All I said was that he tried to do something for better or for worse. You’re mixing up my defense of free speech rights with some (incorrectly) perceived nod to his work.

    ..Chuck..

  19. Robert, if a country occupied the United States of America, millions of people from around the world would come to our aid either as soldiers in standing armies or as civilians aiding the US insurgency. Do you disagree?

    ..Chuck..

  20. 18- Chuck violating the resolution is a part of the reason we invaded (actually the main reason)..the yellow cake is another part of the equation…and yes it is all tied to the invasion. I agree with you that Moore tried to do something..he tried to manipulate people with his lies!

  21. Chickenhawk Express - trackback on 5/31/2006 at May 31, 2006 - 06:10 PM
  22. 20- Peejz, the country was behind fighting the 9/11 terrorists, not UN resolution violations. If 9/11 hadn’t happened, I’m confident that Bush would never have had a mandate to invade Iraq. Bush had to find a way to tie the two together. I believe he stretched the truth in order to tie them together.

    ..Chuck..

  23. 21. Chuck,,, you got a point,,, the UN is worthless. We should have fuked Saddam up, bedamn what the rest of the world thinks. But, WMD’s were found in IRAQ. Mabe not in the amounts that please you, charles, but they were found. I guess Syria and the Commonwelth Independent States (Former USSR), missed a few during movement.

  24. sorry for the awful spelling. maybe……not mabe. Is the spell check malfunctioning for everyone or just Macintosh?

  25. John- spell check isn’t working, hence all my misspelled words in the posts! Yikes…Lisa is getting married in a few weeks so I didn’t really want to bug her about it. So if you see my errors, oh well!:wink:

  27. I have a small question for those who continue to claim that Iraq had “NO” WMDs. Would any of you know a WMD if you fell over it? Would the material to build 100,000 radiological bombs be considered a WMD? 50,000 lbs of uranium was so enriched it had to be removed from the country to a more secure location.

Would Sarin (the nerve gas used in the attack on the Tokyo subway) artillery shells be considered WMDs? I ask because at least one IED was made using a Sarin artillery shell. It just didn’t go off. It partially detonated while being disarmed and sent two US soldiers to the hospital.

If Saddam had no WMDs, why did US soldiers find thousands of new chemical suits and over 100,000 relatively new doses of Atropine, the treatment for nerve agents? Why does a former Iraqi General claim that plane loads of chemical weapons were transported to Syria disguised as humanitarian aid?

On the topic of an invasion of this country, I’ll just relate a comment from one of our founding fathers. A quote that flies directly in the face of Moore’s “Bowling for Columbine” “Invasions may be made too formidable to be resisted by any land or naval force which would comport either with the principles of our Government, or the circumstances of the United States to maintain. In such cases recourse must be made to the great body of the people, and in a manner to produce the best effect. It is of the highest importance therefore, that they be so organized and trained as to be prepared for any emergency.”

  29. Chuck, if Saddam took over the country I lived in and started murdering people (while his sons ran amuck, raping any woman they wanted to), I would welcome the help of the greatest nation in the history of the earth, the greatest beacon of freedom in history, the nation that has helped more, freed more people than any nation in history.

We don’t want to take over that shithole, occupy it forever. We only want to leave it better than we found it, stable, and no longer a threat.

Now what the hell is wrong with any of that?

  30. 14–Peejz, I did miss that. Thanks.

  31. 25 – FrmrArtyOffcr I want to believe you, I really do. Do you have any objective proof you can point to? If so, let’s compile it all in one place and start pointing people at it. You have my word that I’ll put effort into helping to make this information be more widely known.

    ..Chuck..

  32. Chuck, How can liberals even say with a straight face that Saddam didn’t have WMD when he obliterated dozens of villages with them? His total death count stands at 1.3 million people dead. There are many places on the web which reports these things; too many to go back to. Some advice for you would be to stay away from the main stream media…..look for journalists embeded over there who have blogs, check out organizations whose scholars research the issues and read their reports, etc. If you do the research you will find the truth.

  33. 21. Chuck. I don’t know about the rest of the country but where I live in the Washington DC region they did NOT want to fight terrorists, ever. About a week after 9/11 the signs for NO WAR and MAKE LOVE NOT WAR went up throughout neighborhoods. For the first time in my life I was actually offended by some of my fellow americans.

After all, I had been watching to see what action our government would take since the first attack on the world trade center.

  34. He is not the only one who moore cheated i read that one of the youths that appeared in his BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE feels cheated as well:mad:

“How can liberals even say with a straight face that Saddam didn’t have WMD when he obliterated dozens of villages with them?”

BonBon…WHO GAVE SADDAM THOSE W’sMD? Look it up.

“His total death count stands at 1.3 million people dead.”

Oh, give me a break. First it was 10,000 then 100,000 then 500,000 and now 1.3 million???

“…For the first time in my life I was actually offended by some of my fellow americans.”

Get used to it. I’ve been offended by my fellow Americans since 2000.

  36. San Francisco Liberal

“…i read that one of the youths that appeared in his BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE feels cheated as well”

Was that the one kid who got Wal-Mart to stop selling guns and ammunition when he tried to return the bullets in his body to the store?

    That was awesome…

  37. I never watched “Bowling”, so I can’t offer any criticism of it except that I did see the excerpts where Moore took footage from different Charlketon Heston speeches and edited them into one sequence, making Heston appear to say something different than he actually did.

That was enough for me. Evil, degenerate, lying, propaganda. The lowest of the low. I don’t need to see Columbine; just considering the source is understanding enough.

Btw in my opinion, “Gun Control” means hitting your target. The anti-2nd Amendment crowd has never come up with one argument that holds water.

  38. Was that the one kid who got Wal-Mart to stop selling guns and ammunition when he tried to return the bullets in his body to the store?

    That was awesome:

I wonder where his bodyguards buy their bullets

  39. San Francisco Liberal

“I wonder where his bodyguards buy their bullets”

Not at Wal-Mart anywmore, that’s for damn sure.

And Robert, I recommend that you rent “Bowling for” and give it a good watch over – at least you’d have a valid opinion on the movie then.

Hell, I watch Fox News once in a long while and it’s not like I buy that crap. You won’t grow liberal horns on your head if watch it once, is all I’m saying.

  40. Robert- I watched it with my bil, a staunch democrat…we laughed our a$$@s off! If was the most ridiculous movie but god it was funny!

  41. Oh, give me a break. First it was 10,000 then 100,000 then 500,000 and now 1.3 million???

Yes, that’s right SF. They have never stopped looking. Since we have been there they have uncovered 267 mass graves and approx. 1.3 million dead people. The good news is that because of the hard work of forensic scientists alot of families are claiming the bodies of their loved ones and giving them proper burials.

And yes, I am well aware of who put Saddam in power. Was it wrong? I don’t know. It would seem so now in hindsight. But I would argue that the U.S. historically has tried to do the right thing only to have it be the wrong thing. We simply are not able to see in the future.

At least Rumsfield knows who he’s dealing with?

  42. San Francisco Liberal

“But I would argue that the U.S. historically has tried to do the right thing only to have it be the wrong thing. We simply are not able to see in the future.”

I agree. And this is one of many reasons why the Iraq invasion and occupation was and still is a “bad idea”, IMHO.

  43. That’s where we part company. Actually, I meant to say the U.S. “sometimes” misses because I don’t think we have ALWAYS done the wrong thing. As for Iraq, it’s always been my position that we should never have left the Gulf in 1991 without taking him out but there again it was hindsight. Why Bush senior didn’t do it I’ll never know although I do understand the cowardice of Clinton now.

We have spent billions of dollars on Iraq being duped by this dictator. It was time to end. HE chose to ignore the U.N. resolutions, not us and I totally believe we did the right thing. Yes, he had WMD, and absolutely yes he had ties to terrorists. I will never believe different.

And further, with all the middle eastern populations dancing in the street at our 9/11 I would also assert that it was time the U.S. took a strong stand in it’s defense.

  44. If you are so honest and open minded, SF, refute this: The Truth About Bowling For Columbine

  45. San Francisco Liberal

“Yes, he had WMD, and absolutely yes he had ties to terrorists. I will never believe different.”

That’s pretty bold to say that you will never change your position.

Most people learn and grow when presented with new information that may change previously held positions…but not BonBon!

That is arrogance of the highest order.

    Keep those blinders on!

  46. Well SF I will be the first to admit when I’m wrong but in this case no way. I’m not. I’ve been presented with lots of evidence. The case has been made and I’m convinced. Saddam with his weapons and his murderous regime are better off GONE.

    Whose blinders are on?

  47. BonBon, SF has the Clinton issue Rose (Law Firm) Colored glasses welded firmly to his head.

  48. #36: I don’t need to watch “Bowling’, it would be a waste of time. Just seeing the excerpts of the doctored Heston speeches, which constituted fraud by Moore, tells me what I need to know about the pos.

I did watch F911, and a similar genre of fraud was perpetrated throughout that pos also.

Moore and his propamentaries really do provide a litmus test opportunity. If you run into someone and they believe’s Moore’s lies, you know what you are dealing with.

  49. PCD…..agreed. They do seem to be firmly welded to his head. What a shame

Robert. I actually did know a person that also happened to be a liberal and she was ecstatic over F911. The whole bit of being part of a cultural revolution, Bush bashing, blah, blah, blah. She’s Jewish and oh my did she sing a different tune as soon as it came out he was anti semantic.
