Fred Phelps Sued By Dead Marine’s Parents

By: Pam On: Jun/6/06 - 10 Comments

Back in February, I wrote The Patriot Guard Riders Rock. Remember, that this is a group of bikers that attend a fallen soldiers funeral, in order to protect the family from the protestors sent in courtesy of Reverend Fred Phelps.

Allahpundit wrote of the suit:

From moral bankruptcy to actual bankruptcy, God willing.

The complaint states five causes of action, all of which allege sufficient outrageousness as to warrant punitive damages. That’s the key; the Snyders probably can’t collect enough by way of actual damages to take douchey’s land and put him in the poorhouse. So its punitives or bust ” unless other military families follow the Snyders’ lead here and file suits of their own. In that case, the legal fees alone might be enough to break him.

And indeed, that’s exactly what the Snyders are advocating on their webpage. They’re also accepting donations to help defray the expenses of the suit. (Their lawyers, Barley Snyder, are working pro bono.) Drop a fin in their collection box to help them fight the good fight.

I hope Snyder wins and other military families follow suit.

I intend to write a letter to the local papers…Michigan has had the displeasure of having these donkeys coming to funerals and it sickens me..it’s time these parents are afforded their contitutional rights…

I was hoping the Patriot Riders would’ve kicked their asses by now, and stopped them once and for all.

Whatever it takes. If it can be done in the courts, that works too (though I’d love to see them get their asses kicked…)

Me too Robert, but I am happy to see that the families may be able to do something to them without risking jail time!

Well it’s now illegal for these nut jobs,( and trust me after hearing one of them on the Sean Hannity show, they are nutjobs) to protest within fifty feet of the entrance of a federal cemetary for a number of hours before and after a funeral.

I certainly hope that they take these morons to the cleaners.

If I was a cop on the beat and I got a radio call to respond to the local cemetary because someone was beating the crap out of the Phelps gang, I would drive very, very slow. I might even have to stop for coffee and donuts on the way.

FAO, I heard that interview too, as I recall it was a woman, and I wanted to reach through the radio and strangle her.
