Don't bet the farm on the family getting a settlement either. There is precedent that says that the police are only responsible for insuring the public welfare, not the welfare of any one citizen. They've had dispatchers listen while callers have been raped and murdered before the police could get there. That's why it's so important to be able to defend YOURSELF. They should be punished for, as I see it, a crime. People who do phrank calls to emergency services of any type shold also be punshed. I feel sorry for this kid.
