Time Issues Correction On Haditha While Murtha Seeks The Leadership Position

By: Pam On: Jun/10/06 - 4 Comments

Time Magazine has been covering the Haditha incident since January. It wasn’t until Murtha got involved that the rumors started flying…well now Time is issuing a “we regret the error“.

In the original version of this story, TIME reported that “one of the most damning pieces of evidence investigators have in their possession, John Sifton of Human Rights Watch told Time’s Tim McGirk, is a photo, taken by a Marine with his cell phone that shows Iraqis kneeling ” and thus posing no threat ” before they were shot.” While Sifton did tell TIME that there was photographic evidence, taken by Marines, he had only heard about the specific content of the photos from reports done by NBC, and had no firsthand knowledge. TIME regrets the error.

So they go on hearsay to convict these Marines.. That isn’t what Murtha said! Make no mistake, if these Marines are guilty, they should be prosecuted..that being said, these are men and women that deserve the benefit of the doubt..see, in my world, these are members of our military, men and woman that put their lives on the lines, while I sit in my jammies, sipping coffee, and type what is right and wrong with the world..I am in no way making fun of any of us, for each of us contributes to society in our own way, but merely putting things into perspective..my weapon is my words and my shield is the ability to get up and walk away from the computer..a soldiers battle is not that simple..

One would think that with all that Murtha has done to rile up the anti-war base, in particular, his pronouncing the Marines guilt prior to a trial, he would be the annointed one for the House Majority leadership position if the party succeeds in the November elections…not so fast Johnny….

Members really think Jack Murtha has caused a huge disruption. This is a major distraction from what our focus should be. We should be focusing on taking back the House, not leadership ambitions.”

Democratic aides who criticized Murtha’s sudden announcement on Friday said he was proving himself to be more of a divider than a uniter.

Of course he is divisive, we told you that and then some! But I could not help but notice that Murtha did go out and offer something, anything, while his party had nothing to say, and now they want him to be a good little lackey and sit and be quite. Could it be that his message is not the message that the party supports?

Not likely to happen SF. Your home girl (Social Security is solvent until you’re ready to retire) Pelosi is the lead candidate for the Speaker position which is the House Majority leader.

As for my description of Pelosi, she gave a speech to a bunch of twenty somethings and told them that “Social Security will be solvent for the next 40 years. We don’t need to change it.” Of course the mush brains applauded not realizing that she was telling them that they were going to be SOL unless the system is changed and the sooner the better.
