“My message to the enemy is, don’t count on us leaving before we succeed,”

Amen to this! The last thing this country needs is another Vietnam, and it will only be a Vietnam if we don’t finish the job!

Can someone please tell me how long it took for our democracy to become fully functioning? How long did it take for the violence to end?

  1. Don’t count on Iraq succeeding until we leave. (!)

And your attempt to compare the American Revolution with the Iraq Occupation is laughable, at best.

  2. 1, Yeah, don’t count on Iraq being a success as long as there are people like SF who undermine our efforts and supports the enemies just because they hate George Bush, too.

  3. Let’s see, if I had to choose electing someone from the left…doom & gloom, glass half empty, entitlement heaven, what’s good for America is bad for us, or someone from the right…freedom loving, glass half full, go out and better yourself, what’s good for America is good for the rest of the world, gosh, what would I do???
Don’t all you lefties get tired of being negative, negative, and more negative? Would it be that terrible if Bush’s dream of a democratic government in the Middle East takes hold? Are you afraid you will once again be on the wrong side of history? IT DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!

  4. But Sandy, the Government in Iraq doesn’t guarantee homosexual rights. It doesn’t grant and guarantee entitlements. And, HORRORS!, There’s no affirmative action programs in place. No gun control (confiscation). I almost forgot the biggest horror, religion isn’t denigrated and clerics have power in Iraq.

This is all anethema to the Democrat party.

  5. notice how SF still uses liberal code words like “occupation”

SF, tell me ONE time in history where the US has taken any more land than it takes to bury our dead.

    Please, I’m waiting.

  6. Mike,

We took Aztlan from Mexico and dared to make the states of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Utah, and Colorado out of it.

SF thinks he’s going to be some sort of aztlan official as soon as the Illegals “requista” Aztlan back from us Gringos.

  7. The “Hate America” crowd… why don’t you all move to France and see how you like it there…they all hate America too…you’ll fit in great!!! You bring nothing to the table to debate other than bitching and wining. You have no ideas to solve the few problems we have. You don’t hesitate to defend the thugs in Gitmo, but you can’t defend the unborn. Thank God for our president who does not pollwatch, who follows through on what he truly believes regardless if it is popular or not. I might not always agree with him, but he stands up for his beliefs.

  8. 1. Please explain why it is laughable SF…I would like to know why we can and can not compare the 2…

  9. #4 PCD: Yes, and can you imagine what would happen if Michael Newdow went over there and petitioned to have Allah removed from everything? Couldn’t have that; boll weevils like Newdow must be indulged, no matter how specious their arguments! No matter how small a minority they are, the will of the majority must be set aside for the whim eof the wacko.

Now I know some Lib will retort that they guess I don’t like the idea of a Constitution. Well my Constitution guarantees the right to free exercise of religion, something the Left doesn’t want. Theirs is a Konstitution.

  10. Well, Peejz, for starters, one started in 1776 and the other started in 2003!

    just kiddin’…

  11. “The last thing this country needs is another Vietnam, and it will only be a Vietnam if we don’t finish the job!’

Exactly right! The Lefties in the MSM have been working so diligently to turn it into another Nam. They just keep asserting it over and over, hoping that it will acquire truth by the sheer force of promulgation.

Ever since their role model Walter Commiekite doomed us in Nam, the lefties have been trying to outdo each other in the race to become the next icon.

  12. “Please explain why it is laughable SF:I would like to know why we can and can not compare the 2…”

Well, for starters, we started our OWN revolution here in the colonies. I don’t remember the Iraqis starting this particular “revolution” on their own accord.

    (!)

  13. The great and wonderful SF pontificates in 12 that Iraqis do not deserve nor want freedom.

What a selfish, self centered Liberal.

  14. You must understand SF’s way of thinking…. law and order is fascism, education is constraint, work is alienation, revolution is sport, leisure the riches privileage, drugs to open the mind, family stifiling carreers, affeluence is oppresion, succes a social disease, sex a pastime, youth a tribunal, dicipline a attack on personality, Christanity an opressive threat. Anything to tear down our society and bring us to the level of the third world.

  15. The above is how the left will destroy the US. By taking all that is good and right, and destroying it. Simply disease of self hate, and those who want to preserve themselves are biggots, homophobes, (insert any popular left wing word here)….

  16. but who is the enemy? after all bush is allowing 2 million iraqis to come here within the next 2 years? 30 million from mexico 2 million others from the mideast and 100 million from other parts( read red china ) of the third world, so i say kill bin laden and let the show go on, and on and on, until the USA Become the North American Union, after all bush needs the money for his deals in red china and to help the USA Become mexico! let us hear it for our lead the guy who made you a non person insdie your country.

  17. What a strange comparison?

The political situation is far from being comparable between Vietnam and Iraq, as Iraq wasn’t indoctrinated by a neighbour country as Vietnam by communist China…
And the same thing is with “look how long it took until we had democracy”- how much has current Iraq in common with America one or two hundred years ago???

You shouldn’t think so much in black&white-schemes… radicals do so- on all sides! …and just look at their results!

  18. Well, I can think of a comparable theme between the US and Iraq…both countries wanted freedom from oppression…The US struggled to form a new goverment and all was not peaceful for many years..Iraq has done a tremendous job of trying to form a goverment for all the people…yet is struggling with the radical faction of the population.

  19. Peejz, that’s extremelysimplistic; “both want freedom from oppression”?!?

    Uhhh…who doesn’t?

  20. I second that Robert. The most recent idiocy I have heard from the left is that they want to start a movement to eliminate jury trials. I just thought yeah right that will happen. Can you even begin to imagine the justice system for people if there are no juries. Granted, juries aren’t perfect but not to have one at all?

    Liberalism = mentally deficient

  21. “The most recent idiocy I have heard from the left is that they want to start a movement to eliminate jury trials.”

What?!?!? Wanna back up that claim with a link?

  22. “Liberalism = mentally deficient”

 Ok, since these kinds of poor, ad hom attacks can be a two way street; then…

Conservatism = stupid people saying stupid things.

  23. No link San Fran. I have the unfortunate experience of working in academia where there are plenty of activists. This was hallway conversation however the people who were talking have acted on many occasions so I have no reason to doubt they won’t try to do the same here.

Also, because it’s the DC region, access is easy.

  24. Of course it is simplistic SF..it isn’t that difficult of a concept. This country struggled long and hard in order to secure a democratic society..the same is true in Iraq. This country could not have won her independence if not for the allies of France, Spain and the Netherlands. There are many similarities between the 2 battles.

  25. Bon Bon- I would have gone with the example of the lefts push to abolish the Electoral College

Hillary seems to thinks it’s a good idea:

: “The first legislation I will sponsor will be a bill abolishing the Electoral College.”

  26. You know Peejz some could argue that the struggle to be free and not oppressed in the U.S. took most of 200 years. After all the struggle for civil rights went all the way up until the 1960′s. At least for blacks and native americans it didn’t happen right away.

Iraq is incredibly lucky that they have made such progress in such a short time. My fingers are crossed for them. By all accounts they are working hard through their disagreements and finding workable solutions for all sides. Let’s hope that the U.S. can better help them because of our struggle.

  27. Hahahaha…yeah. I got that Peejz. The lefties just couldn’t believe in their wildest dreams that Gore the Whore didn’t win, therefore it must have been a problem with the electoral college because we all know that every vote really doesn’t count. tsk tsk.

    Thanks for the links.

  28. Bon Bon- that is exactly what I was getting at:grin: Iraq, for all it’s failures, has actually been a success! Crazy as it may sound!
