After all the struggle for civil rights went all the way up until the 1960's. At least for blacks and native americans it didn't happen right away. Iraq is incredibly lucky that they have made such progress in such a short time. My fingers are crossed for them. By all accounts they are working hard through their disagreements and finding workable solutions for all sides. Let's hope that the U.S. can better help them because of our struggle. This country struggled long and hard in order to secure a democratic society..the same is true in Iraq. This country could not have won her independence if not for the allies of France, Spain and the Netherlands. There are many similarities between the 2 battles. I have the unfortunate experience of working in academia where there are plenty of activists. This was hallway conversation however the people who were talking have acted on many occasions so I have no reason to doubt they won't try to do the same here.
