Being in the military, or an individual having previously served in the military, doesn’t inherently confer any special insight with respect to military planning, organization or stategic operations.

While there are many brave men in today’s army, anyone who ever put on a uniform will also agree, in every large barrel of apples, there are always a few idiots, cowards and fools.

That a man was wounded in action could mean that he was brave; or, it could mean that he simply failed to duck. Even if one is wounded as the result of bravery, it shouldn’t confer a life-time pass to pontificate as an expert on all things military.

The statement: “[Democrats] may be with you at the first shots, but they are not going to be with you for the last tough battle,” seems to be a pretty accurate summation of the party’s leadership since 1970; irrespect of any prior individual acts attributable to personal bravery.

There were hostage rescue attempts on the table that Carter rejected that would’ve had a much higher chance of success. The entire rescue operation was done to court political power. There is a reason why there is now a Central Operations Command for special ops. It’s because of the monumental failure of the rescue attempt. It was arranged to insure that every service got to participate, not for it to be the most effective it could have been. Navy Sea Stallion helicopters were tasked for the flight into and out of Tehran despite being known to be subject to mechanical problems when exposed to dust and sand. Army or Marine Chinooks would’ve been better suited, but then the Navy would’ve felt left out. The whole scenario was put together to make Carter look good and ended up making the US look incompetent and weak. Intelligence was bad because Carter had ordered that we not collect intel from people with blood on their hands. While this is a wonderfully moral position to take, it simply doesn’t account for the fact that unless the intelligence is coming from people with inside information, it’s of limited value.

Lets start with Vietnam and the Democrat Cogress which cut off support for South Vietnam. Democrat Jimmy Carter who abandoned the Shah of Iran and our Americab Hostages for 44 Days. Democrat Clinton and his cut and run from Somalia. Anyone see the pattern that Bob Schieffer can’t see.

Of course when it comes to the dems they can’t stomach the truth. They feel righteous in their ignorance. It’s a mindset. After all one has only to remember they blamed 9/11 on Bush and totally ignored all the incidents in the 90’s that culminated in 9/11 on, dare I say it, Clintons watch!

Just listening to them posture and strut even a fool could realize their cut and run strategy for Iraq. It comes from all people of their party and not just the leaders.

This also includes the party that had the president who pardoned the draft dodgers and another one who was a draft dodger. I think that Rove’s statement is pretty much dead on. Especially with Kerry’s history of putting troops into harm’s way and then voting against funding them.
