I think the best way to describe the whole Dan Rather document BS would be to have someone photoshop a pic of someone in bed with Hillary Clinton, use the photo to claim that she was sleeping around on Bill, and when the photo was proven to be faked say that just because the photo was fake doesn't mean she wasn't cheating on Bill with the person in the photo even if there was exculpatory evidence to prove it was flat out a lie. Just because Dan wanted stories to be true and reported them as such, didn't make them true. I remember the welfare fraud that was going on before the welfare reform in 1996. I watched women who had made a career out of popping out welfare babies come out of the grocery store across the parking lot from the Rent to Own store I managed with shopping carts overflowing with cuts of meat I couldn't afford but paid for with my tax dollars. You probably don't know what the major catalyst was that caused the entire uproar over overhauling the welfare system. I do. It was when a 29 yr old welfare mother of 9 got up and asked Mike Dukakis what he was going to do as President to get her free housing for her family. When he asked her what was she doing having 9 kids with no means to support them, she responded with "I have a right to have as many kids as I damn well please and you're responsible to make sure they have housing and food." It was at that moment that all of the liberal and moderate Dems saw the light that the welfare system was corrupt and needed to be fixed. It was like a light switch was turned on that screamed that the Conservatives were right, there were people who had made it their life's work to NEVER work. THAT's WHY the welfare system was reformed. SF.
