It's the only redeployment plan that actually makes sense. How about we'll start withdrawing our troops as soon as the Iraqi parliament and PM ask us to? Why not announce that plan to the world. We'll stand beside our friends the Iraqi people until such time as <em>they</em> feel they can stand on their own. After that, we'll continue our rebuilding efforts and provide security to our engineering forces, but only retain as many troops in Iraq as is necessary as to provide security for engineers rebuilding the infrastructure. For those who are interested, KFYI the local Phoenix talk radio station, has a reporter (Jim Sharp) on the ground in Iraq this week. He's been calling back and reporting LIVE on a sat phone from Iraq. He wasn't a huge war supporter, but he's been really choked up over the response he's been seeing of the Iraqi people towards the US Soldiers and he's been asking why isn't this being reported. He went to an Iraqi hospital that the Army Engineers are rebuilding not from being bombed but from 30 years of neglect. All of the people there were very happy that the Americans are there.
