It isn’t that difficult to follow the thought of the author. Get the Israeli State out of the region. Then there will be peace. Even the author of the Rove comment got that!

1. It strikes me that the basic tenet of the original post goes to the idealistic hope that Arab and Jew (and other anti-Israel groups) could get along and co-exist so there would be no need for a “Jewish Homeland.” But, it sounds better for your base, peejz, if you spin this into a hate piece against Israel.

2. I take the anti-Rove comment you quote to mean that conservative commenters on Kos push pure Rovian-Right Wing theory, and not an effort to blame Rove for the diary piece. Again, spin it our of proportion and context all you want. Clear-thinking people see through your bias and misplaced passion.

It’s certainly not a very PC thing to say, that’s for sure.

I don’t really agree or disagree with it. It is what it is. An “imagine this” piece.

But as for Israel’s existence, SF Liberal is for it. These people have been displaced and despised for thousands of years, and considering what many of them went through in the early 20th century, I think the UN did them a great service by creating the state of Israel.

I also think the Palestinians made an EPIC MISTAKE by rejecting the two-state compromise back in `48.

That said, Israel acts aggressively and is often too heavy handed when dealing with the Palestinian problem.

Illegal settlements, the way the Palestinians are treated as second class citizens, the slum like refugee camps:come on. Israel should know better.

Both sides need to make many hard sacrifices and change fundamental ways about how they view each other before any real progress is ever going to happen over there.
