Can You Honor A Friendship And Survive In Politics?

By: Pam On: Jul/16/06 - 4 Comments

I ask that because of this article written about Barbara Boxer(D-CA). It is a scathing rebuke of her from the far liberal left. Please put your politics aside and tell me what you think of this:

Dorothy Reik, said Boxer’s decision “shows she’s part of that `old boys’ club’ in the Senate, where some sort of personal loyalty overrides your principles.”

I read that and my jaw dropped. I would actually be disappointed if Ms. Boxer didn’t support her friend and collegue. She and Joe have worked together for many years, and I am sure that the war is not the only issue where they parted company. At the same time, I am mindful that they have more than likely been on the same page more often than not..

“And it’s not as though Ned Lamont has different views from her on the environment and women’s rights,” added Reik, who is organizing a fundraiser for Lamont.

Who is this man and why should Boxer drop Joe and just jump on the Lamont bandwagon? Lamont is a person put up by Kos and Armstrong…

“This is a real test for our party, of whether we can be inclusive, or if our candidates have to be 100 percent pure,” said Dan Gerstein, a Democratic consultant and blogger who once worked for Lieberman.

You bet it is, and the further they try to push it to the left, the easier it will be to elect those on the right…

Washington’s old boys network is so much a club as a fraternity that defends its own at all costs. How else to explain the tepid response by party officials to Ned Lamont’s challenge of Lieberman?.

As the blog The Enigmatic Paradox has noted in myriad posts and in great detail, the overnight blossoming of Lamont’s campaign reflects the natural political evolution – ooops, perhaps that should be creationism – of the Northeast.

If Lamont wins, it will ‘Connecticut Shot’ heard round the country.

I would explain it by the fact that the Senate recognizes the supporter of Lamont for what they are..exteme far left liberals…the drag on the ticket….

Wow. Looks like the Dems are getting a taste of what the Republicans have been dealing with for over a decade now.

Each party has it’s own wing of extremists. Libs have Rabid-Anti-War types, and Conservs have backward thinking religious wackos.

Both parties fringes sure do make a lot of noise. (!)

[...] This is actually a good example of what I was talking about here. In a surprise move, former President Bill Clinton will campaign for Sen. Joe Lieberman in the Democrat’s closely contested primary race in Connecticut. [...]
