<em>"Develop our oil resources for use while the alternative fuels are getting the bugs worked out adequately to be mass marketed. Screaming alt fuels NOW is a waste of breath. They aren't ready for the market and the market isn't ready for them."</em>

This is 100% correct. And the whole subject of energy cis a perfect example of why a large portion of the ecowhacko crowd should just be flushed down the toilet becuase they are insane.

1. They don't want "fossil fuels" consumed, but they won't consider nuclear power generation.
2. They want to cut down on CO2 emissions, but they won't consider nuclear.
3. They tout renewables such as solar and wind power, but then they set aside huge tracts of desert land (so solar arrays can't be put there) and don't want to allow large wind farms because the generator blades kill birds.
4. They want clean, green power, but want to tear out dams that are providing hydro power.
5. They champion anti-global warming causes like the Kyoto Treaty, but totally ignore the fact that Kyoto would exempt the soon-to-be-largest generators of "greenhouse gases" and consumers of "fossil fuels".
6. They eagerly promote "An Inconveneinet Truth" while completely ignoring any facts that might contradict their preconcieved opinion.

The above is solid proof of the extreme mental illness prevalent in the Ecowhacko community.

I can give a huge reason why a lot of Hispanics may be more inclined to vote Republican. I saw a bumper sticker that said , <em>IN SPANISH</em>, that you couldn't be Catholic and pro abortion. My Spanish isn't great but even I could translate that. What is the main religion of the Hispanics in this country? Catholic. What happens if the pro abortion, pro gay, anti religion voting records of the Democrats become public knowledge among the Catholics? It might have the same effect there as it has amongst the religious right. People who have voted Democratic the majority of their lives are looking at the extreme liberal agenda of the Democrats and simply can not bring themselves to vote for someone who has consistently voted opposite their personal values. Why do you think that one Democratic Strategist is telling Dems to LIE about their stance on gay marriage until after the election.

Do you know what I'd <strong>REALLY</strong> like to see? Both parties develop a platform, <strong>HONESTLY </strong>state it, allow the voters to decide, and then actually <strong>IMPLEMENT</strong> it. The problem as I see it is that the Democrats refuse to honestly state their platform because they know it'll lose at the polls, so they have become the opposition (no real plans other than to make asses of themselves) party, and the Republicans happily state their platform because they know it'll win at the polls but then fail to implement it because of all of the backroom earmark deals.

My ideal platform would be:

Lower tax rates to stimulate the economy (History shows that revenues go up from the increased activity so there wouldn't be a loss in revenues.)

Cut excessive wasteful spending. Deficits aren't caused by not having enough revenue, they're caused by spending too much. Do you use creit cards because you don't earn enough or because you want to buy things you don't have the cash for?

Overhaul the education system. Most educators are so busy trying to make the kids feel good about themselves, they never bother to actually force the kids to learn. I've taught numerous people how to do different things. Why do you think I ask so many questions on this list. You can tell people things repeatedly, but if they find it out for themselves, they're more likely to retain it. Ask a kid a question (an objective one, until they're teens, subjective ones are a waste of time), offer a reward, and see how fast they can find the answer.

Fix Social Security. Privatized accounts work in every circumstance in which they've been tried. Members of the government who opted into the goverment's private plan (The one all of the Democratic Congressmen don't want you to know they're in) when it came out in the mid 80s have about 3 times the benefits coming of those who choose to stay in the old plan. BTW dumping the additional capital into the stock market will allow companies to grow and thereby make the returns increase even more rapidly.

Seal the border, militarize it if necessary. Narcoterrorists, and for that matter real terrorists, know that our borders are nothing more than a line in the sand that they cross with impunity. It's time to stop it. It's time that when Narcoterrorists open fire on our border patrol and law enforcement officers like they did recently, we realize that firing back won't cause an "international incident", the being fired upon did. Next time we find armed Mexican soldiers on US soil, they should be treated as invaders and jailed or shot. Next time Narcoterrorists fire automatic weapons across the border at our law enforcement personnel, the phone call to Fox should be "Vinny, if you don't crack down on the drug cartels and stop the violence, we're going to. Next time they fire across the border at our officers, we're going to track them down and kill them. And we may not be particularly stealthy about how we do it. Comprende? 'click'"

As for drugs, I'd legalize marijuana, regulate it, tax it, and let the big tobacco companies add it to their product lines. Sell it like alcohol. Want to see the drug cartels go out of the cannabis business? Let them TRY and compete with Phillip Morris. The additional revenues that come in could be used to combat and treat drug addiction for the harder drugs. I'd also push for the execution of major drug dealers and anyone who commits murder while participating in a drug related crime. While it may not deter anyone else from dealing drugs, it would damn sure cut down on the recidivism rate.

On the topic of Gay marriage, the gay community needs to cool its jets. As I've told many people, the very acceptance of gays has been through social EVOLUTION not social revolution. Evolution always moves forward towards a goal, revolution can come back and bite you in the ass. Does anyone really believe that all of this nonsense about gay marriage would be going on right now if the gay community had tried to win their case at the ballot box instead of the judge's bench? As I see it, they're trying to ram something down the throat of the majority who have said they are against it, rather than trying to sway opinion in their favor. There really is a constitutional argument to allow Gay Marriage that might even sway those who oppose it. The gay movement simply isn't trying to sway opinion, they're trying to run roughshod over it.

As for immigration and guest workers, we do have to overhaul the system, however allowing people to break numerous laws by coming here and working illegally in the interim is simply unacceptable. BTW I feel the argument that Illegals take jobs Americans won't do is bogus. Do you know what the difference between paying an illegal $6/hr to pick lettuce and paying a legal resident $12/hr to do the same really is? Less than ten cents a head. Do you think we might be able to find people to pick lettuce for $12/hr? How about $18? That's less than twenty cents more per head. BTW that's if the picker ONLY picks 1 head a minute rather than a more probable 2 -3+ heads a minute. Of course there is one additional thing to consider in the equation. The fact that many of the illegals are being paid in cash under the table with the employer violating any number of labor and tax laws.

Develop our oil resources for use while the alternative fuels are getting the bugs worked out adequately to be mass marketed. Screaming alt fuels NOW is a waste of breath. They aren't ready for the market and the market isn't ready for them. Personally, I want one of the new Silverado Hybrids, big truck ride and performance with little truck fuel economy. We have oil, coal and gas reserves lying untouched that will meet our needs until the alternate fuels become viable. Let's stop complaining about gas prices and do something to fix them. Supply and demand drives prices. As supply increases, prices drop. It's simple economics.

Revise the gun laws. The current ones make no sense. Gun laws have never proven effective at stopping crime. John Hinckley was arrested the fall before he shot President Reagan when he was planning an attempt on President Carter. Because his family had money, this arrest was downgraded to involuntary admission to a psyche ward where he was out again in less than 7 months. Because health records are confidential, even under the current background check and any waiting period scheme, he was and still would be able to illegally purchase the pistol that he used to seriously wound President Reagan and nearly kill James Baker. Switzerland has mandatory firearms ownership and qualifications for all military age males following a two year tour on active duty. They have virtually NO violent crime. They also have national target shooting competitions starting at age 5. Oh BTW they also have a non homogenous society as the country has 3 official languages.

Now of course you all know why I'll never be elected anything. I believe most of what I say makes too much sense. See San Fran, I may be a knuckle dragger, but I'm not a Neanderthal.

<em>"So your only point was that many Cubans are angry at Clinton? :and nothing else?"</em>

Yep. You even cut and pasted my quote stating as much. No hidden agenda, SF.

<em>"A lot of people are angry at Clinton:so what?!?"</em>

Merely a consideration of how "you people" treated an immigrant son.

But if they want to vote in lock step with a party that will take them for granted, as they have the black vote; make promises they have no intention of keeping, as they do with the black vote, then they deserve the same treatment as blacks who continue to fall for the same line each and every election cycle.

<em>"It sounded to me like you were inferring that because of what Clinton did, Hispanics & Latinos would not be inclined to vote Democrat."</em>

And so far you seem to be to only one to whom it sounded that way. You had to infer quite a bit from my statement to make a point that had nothing to do with what I was writing about. I promise you that wasn't the point I was making with Elian.
