They used their intel assets to get the names of the hostage takers and sent a Soviet Spetsnaz team after their families. After the Soviets sent the terrorists a few pictures and fingers, their diplomats were returned unharmed and that was the last time any terrorist grabbed a Soviet citizen until after the fall of the Soviet Union. Of course liberals in this country would never condone such an action and as a result more Americans will die at the hands of terrorists.
