At best it is a minority within the Republican party. Nobody wants to turn America into a theocracy. What we want is for the Anti-American Communist Liberals United (ACLU) to stop trying to stamp out every public vestige of our traditional, historical majority religion (while ignoring every non-traditional religion, such as Islam). At this point the religious left (the doctrine and dogma of Liberalism) is more of a threat to the future of the U.S. than any religious right, imo. Look at what its zealots (NY Times, for example) are doing: undermining the Nation in times of war, deliberately, providing aid and comfort to the enemy. Hampering the ability of law enforcement to do its job, deliberately.
