14,000 new Connecticut voters registered as Democrats, while another 14,000 state voters switched their registration from unaffiliated to Democrat to vote in the primary.
Doesn’t this seem a bit odd? Not the fact that you would have new people registering, but and even amount: 14,000 and 14,000…

August 9, 2006 - 04:45 AM on August 9th, 2006
It does seem odd. Connecticut is not only a very small state but apart from a few places like Hartford it’s mostly country with few residents. I would believe 1,000 or so but certainly not 28,000.
August 9, 2006 - 08:54 AM on August 9th, 2006
Did 14,000 people also rise from the dead to vote Democrite, by any chance? Inquiring minds want to know!
August 9, 2006 - 09:18 AM on August 9th, 2006
…a sign of things to come in November, maybe?
August 9, 2006 - 10:00 AM on August 9th, 2006
SF…if this is a sign of things to come then the U.S. and all of the civilized world is in real trouble. I doubt that most americans will let that happen when all is said and done.
August 9, 2006 - 10:07 AM on August 9th, 2006
“I doubt that most americans will let that happen when all is said and done.”
Hello! They already DID “let it happen”…an Anti-War candidate beat out a Pro-War Hawk.
That’s BIG news and, like I said, hopefully is a sign of things to come.
Republicans are looking SO BAD right now, and have been since 2005. It’s only getting worse and worse for your team.
I’m feeling real good.
August 9, 2006 - 11:27 AM on August 9th, 2006
I’m glad you’re feeling real good San Fran. And when they blast San Francisco I’ll think of you.
The reality is that political analyst all around are saying this is the worst possible outcome for the democratic party. Now why do you suppose they would say that?
Could be because the biggest issue on the table is the war on terror and the dems look WEAK enough already.
The big elections will have republicans and centrist dems like Joe out in droves voting against the anti war, anti american candidate.
August 9, 2006 - 11:49 AM on August 9th, 2006
“The reality is that political analyst all around are saying this is the worst possible outcome for the democratic party. Now why do you suppose they would say that?”
Because they are freaking out.
This is a wake up call and an indicator of just how unpopular support for the Iraq War has become if you are a politician.
You are familier with the term “spin”, I’m sure…Well, you are seeing people try and spin this Anti-War victory into a defeat.
It’s laughable, really.
August 9, 2006 - 12:00 PM on August 9th, 2006
“I’m glad you’re feeling real good San Fran. And when they blast San Francisco I’ll think of you.”
Oh please. We’ve already talked about this.
The odds of you or a loved one being killed or hurt in a terror attack are SO FUCKING SMALL…
It’s just not something I worry about.
1 in 88,000 of a terrorist attack
1 in 55,928 of death by lightening
Do you understand those kinds of numbers? It means you have a greater chance of being killed by lightning than you do being killed in a terror attack.
Do you freak out and wring your hands DAILY over being killed by lightning?
No?
Then why do the same over terrorism, which has less odds of happening?
Because your political leaders WANT you to be afraid. They want you to be VERY afraid so you are more easily manipulated.
August 9, 2006 - 12:05 PM on August 9th, 2006
Hopefully the terrorists will drop leaflets in San Francisco (like the Isrealis do) to warn decent people (the few that are left) to get out.
August 9, 2006 - 12:52 PM on August 9th, 2006
Well, there are other consequences of being attacked San Fran. Ever look at the economic consequence of 9/11. Figures differ but I’ve seen it as high as $10billion. Do you honestly think a world leader such as America can withstand this kind of economic slam? Of course not. Terrorism must go.
August 9, 2006 - 01:03 PM on August 9th, 2006
BonBon, SF Liberal is completely ignoring, or utterly clueless, about the effect one good dirty bomb would have in a place like San Francisco. Far more than killing a few hundred people, and thousands more being affected by radiation, would be the economic disruption and chaos resulting.
I don’t want either. I don’t want terrorists killing even one American here or abroad. I say the killing of even one American by terrorists is cause enough to remove all of them from the planet. And they’ve already done that killing. So now what’s left is to remove them.
August 9, 2006 - 01:59 PM on August 9th, 2006
“Terrorism must go.”
Yeah, of course, but it’s not going anywhere until the roots of terrorism are addressed and solved.

“SF Liberal is completely ignoring, or utterly clueless, about the effect one good dirty bomb would have in a place like San Francisco”
Nope, still not scared or worried.
You’re not getting what I’m saying…
You are more likely to die in a strike of lightning than you are to be killed or hurt in a terror attack.
That INCLUDES dirty-bombs, too.
Seriously guys, it’s gotta suck being so afraid all the time.
Relax! The turbaned-boogey man won’t get you!
You are more easily manipulated by politicians when you are afraid…that’s not a good thing.
August 9, 2006 - 02:21 PM on August 9th, 2006
Yeah, of course, but it’s not going anywhere until the roots of terrorism are addressed and solved.
uh, yeah. They want to kill you or convert you to Islam so you can regress to the 8th century. So how do you address that?
August 9, 2006 - 03:15 PM on August 9th, 2006
Robert….he doesn’t address it. The liberals just cruise through life blissfully unaware that our world can turn topsy turvy in the blink of an eye. So say the 3,000+ dead americans on Sept. 11, 2001.
Afraid San Fran? Yes, I have been afraid but trust me when I tell you the only politician that made me afraid was Clinton with his ignoring of the problem.
August 9, 2006 - 03:18 PM on August 9th, 2006
When you are afraid, you are more easily manipulated.
That isn’t good for you and it isn’t good for America.
August 9, 2006 - 03:27 PM on August 9th, 2006
“They want to kill you or convert you to Islam so you can regress to the 8th century. So how do you address that?”
Radical Religious Extremism must not be given an environment to flourish in.
Working to improve social ills, improving education, infrastructure and an end to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict would certainly be a step in the right direction.
Bombing their women and children will NOT make them want to be our friend. (!)
August 9, 2006 - 03:35 PM on August 9th, 2006
15- burying your head in the sand and pretending that nothing will happen is not healthy.
16- All good points, but you left out the fact that the children are taught at a very young age to fight and kill the Jews and any supporters of them…
August 9, 2006 - 03:40 PM on August 9th, 2006
Hopefully they won’t do that anymore when their parents have jobs and the children decent schools and a well-defined path to a REAL future.
You ever wonder WHY parents would do that to their children, dress them up in those war clothes with suicide vests as decorations?
It’s becuase they think they have no future other than to fight.
THAT’S what needs to change. (!)
Give these people a future and you will see less terrorism.
August 9, 2006 - 03:55 PM on August 9th, 2006
18- put down the pipe and come back to reality. These people are not American SF. They live a totally different lifestyle than we do. Fighting is a sign of honor. It isn’t like herewhere you do have kids going into the military in order to get ahead. These people have no choice but to fight. It is considered a sign of disrespect and cowardice not to fight there. Punishable by death.
August 9, 2006 - 04:50 PM on August 9th, 2006
Great point Peejz….might I also add that what scholars who have studied the Koran and Islam are trying to tell us is that it is written that to kill an infidel (ie, Christians and more specifically Jews) is the highest honor a person can achieve. THAT is where the 72 virgins comes into play.
Know thy enemy!!
August 9, 2006 - 04:55 PM on August 9th, 2006
Bon Bon, I need to correct 1 thing:
72 mansions with 72 beds each bed comes with a virgin. That is 1684 virgins!~Walid Shoebat
August 9, 2006 - 05:09 PM on August 9th, 2006
“Know thy enemy!!”
OMG, you people are hopeless.
August 9, 2006 - 05:10 PM on August 9th, 2006
Good thing they don’t teach their kids arithmetic—1684 to one? Now even a village idiot knows those numbers don’t add up.
August 9, 2006 - 07:51 PM on August 9th, 2006
23- That’s how it is Robert..72 mansions with 72 beds each bed has a virgin! 72×72= 1684
