Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Cindy Sheehan Gave Her Uterus For Peace?

By: Pam On: Aug/29/06 - 11 Comments

In reading this letter written by her sister, one would think so! My favorite passages:

  • His dying in order to inspire his mom to spark the peace movement was really not what we expected.
  • The war in Iraq is an illegal and immoral war. We were lied to about the reasons for going into Iraq as proved by the Downing Street memo and the Valerie Plame/ Joe Wilson or Plame gate leak.
  • It is every soldiers duty to resist illegal immoral orders.
  • It is every military persons right to resist and to refuse to carry out illegal and immoral orders.
  • According to statistics given to us by a member of the G.I. Rights Hotline more than 40,000 soldiers have gone AWOL.
  • Cindy did not spark any peace movement. She was brought into the fold by organized protestors. There is no credible evidence to support the 40,000 awol statistic. A soldier does not determine what is legal and illegal. These soldiers signed up for this.

Cindy is extreme and a bit nutty but the needless death
of a son will do that to someone.

1- coupled with the fact that the far left fringe has used her at a time when she needed to get help for her loss.

Actually a soldier does have the responsibility to refuse to follow a patently ILLEGAL order, however morality has nothing to do with it. Legality of an order is clearly defined in the soldier’s code of conduct. Shooting unarmed women and children? Not a legal order. Shoot armed women and children or those who appear to be so? Legal order. Raze a house for the hell of it? Not a legal order. Raze a house that it is reasonable to believe is or has been used for a military purpose (observation or firing location) totally legal and even wise to do so. Raze a house that obstructs your view of a potential route of attack? Iffy but probably legal due to the potential military impact of failing to do so. While firebombing Dresden would’ve been considered morally questionable due to the high probability of collateral damage, it was perfectly legal due to the military goals that destroying the city would achieve.

      “firebombing Dresden”

The majority of the people posting here couldn’t tell you anything about the Dresden attacks let alone what war/conflict it occurred in.

If you spun it the right way you could make the “attackers”or the “victims”out to be the hero’s or the martyrs.

You know Zelda, I bet they could and would actually enjoy discussing it with you if you would drop the sarcasm for a post or 2.

      Peejz;

Sorry. Due to the white man; I pretty much only have time to post when I’m frustrated.

It’s more time consuming and thought intensive to display a well thought out response than to just throw insults and sarcasm. I will try though.

“and Zelda, that was the Ethiopia-Eritrea War.”

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about. I am ignorant.
