Rush Limbaugh:Unfortunately, some Americans are not interested in victory.

Rush Limbaugh appeared in the Free Speech segment of The CBS Evening News. Here is a link to the video via Hot Air or via CBS And the transcript via CBS

(CBS) It is time to face a hard cold fact: Militant Islam wants to kill us just because we are alive and don’t believe as they do. And they have been killing us for decades. It is time to stop pretending these are mere episodic events and face the reality that our way of life is in grave danger. This threat will not just go away because we choose to ignore it.
Some say we try diplomacy. Tell me, how do we negotiate with people whose starting point is our death? Ask them to wait for 10 years, before they kill us? When Good negotiates with Evil, Evil will always wins.

And peace follows victory, not words issued by diplomats.

Unfortunately, some Americans are not interested in victory. And they want us to believe that their irresponsible behavior is Patriotic. Well, it’s not.

When the critics are more interested in punishing this country over a relatively few incidents at Abu Grahib and Guantanimo than they are in defeating those who want to kill us; when they seek to destroy a foreign surveillance program which is designed to identify those who want to kill us and how they intend to do it; when they want to grant those who want to kill us U.S. constitutional rights, I don’t call that patriotic.

Patriotism is rallying behind the country, regardless of party affiliation, to defeat Islamo-Fascism. Patriotism is supporting our troops on the battlefield, not undermining the mission and morale.

But let there be no doubt about this. America will prevail. We are the same America that survived a massively bloody Civil War, defeated the Nazis, and the Soviet Union. Each generation has a responsibility to the next. Our generation won’t disappoint.

  1. “Our way of life is in grave danger.”

Our way of life will be just fine. It is their way of life that won’t last.

Calm down people. These Islamo-Ignorants aren’t the greatest threat that America has faced.

  2. 2.

“Our way of life” died 50 years ago, I think.

Besides George Soros, I may disagree with you hear. The last time these elements were mixed we had 1) The Crusades and then later 2) WWII

“Their way of life” has been around for 1600 years Z- I don’t see it subsiding anytime soon.

  3. The fact of the matter is that as long as we allow the Islamofascists to continue attacking us, they will continue to do so. Once we realize that this is a war, and must be fought as such we can win this. However, we can’t continue fighting a one sided war wherein civilian casualties are their goal while avoiding them are ours. Seeing as they’re not worried about civilian casualties (theirs or ours) we need to return to fighitng this war like we have every war prior to this one. Once we let them understand that we have more bombs than they do, and we start being willing to use them, the mothers will stop allowing their sons to become indoctrinated into the terrorist mind set. As a historian, I would hate to see the ancient cities of the old world reduced to rubble. As a military stategist, I understand that doing so might cost thousands of lives now, but save tens of thousands of lives in the long run.

  4. “”Their way of life”has been around for 1600 years.”

I would disagree. Their religion has been around for ~ 1500 years; but not their way of life.

Their way of life is far more endangered then our way of life.

I don’t know what you are referring to about 50 years ago.

  5. 4.

    Zelda,

If you study the history of the middle east you will see there has been real violence for the last 1600 years. People have been fighting for “the cause”, whatever it is, right or wrong. Most of that time has been for Islam, whether it is the Crusades or other wise.

The last 50 years is a reference to the post WWII era.

  6. I do study the history of various regions. I don’t know it all; and I never will.

I think the Christians have a violent history that isn’t so different. Fortunately; Christians eventually became prosperous and lazy as far as Religion goes and started working for peace. I think eventually Islam will be forced to do likewise. (But I don’t expect to live to see it) It wasn’t so long ago that Christians were mostly nutty.

The post WW2 America wasn’t so perfect even if it is nice and convenient to think it was.

  7. 6-I do study the history of various regions. I don’t know it all; and I never will. You know far more than you let on most of the time and when you get going, you can usually take someone with your intellect!

Ted, It is my opinion that as long as there is a Jew and a Christian on this earth, there will be no peace with Islam!

  8. 6.

Speaking as a Chriustian, I will say that Christians are still mostly nutty. Christians are their own worst enemy. Oral Roberts? Leroy Jenkins?

But I don’t think the violence that emanates from the middle east is historically strictly religious based. It is tribal.

And while I know that post WWII America wasn’t perfect, it was definately the golden era of America. With the soldiers returning home, the nuclear family was broadened and societal outlook was more for the common good than the individual. America was more prosperous than ever and the standard of living skyrocket, and that still holds true today. Families could be very comfortable on a single income and still “keep up with the Jone’s”. Of course, there were blatent cilvil right problems arising, but that is the natural evolution of a society.

    7.
I don’t lknow. I really don’t think religion has much to do with it, as religion is only as good or bad as the person who practices it. man is naturally violent, natural governed by bondries so I would have to say I disagree.

  9. 8
the violence is not tribal – it’s fraternal.

Esau was first born & legally entitled to the inheritance; in this case the land.

Isaac – the child of the Spirit, usurped Esau being the child of the flesh.

I suppose that when we as individuals can reconcile the flesh & the Spirit, peace will come.

  10. 8- Does the Koran recognize Jew and Christians as equals to Islam? I don’t think so. Now take Christian out of my equation and leave the Jews and the Islamics and the goal will be to rid the earth of the Jew.

  11. 8: I can’t say I agree with that, Ted. If Christian means in part to be an imitator of Christ, the differences become clear with what is false. No real Christian would force people to convert or die. Or embrace the type racism we did to enslave others. Or say God’s gonna kill me if I don’t raise $5 million.

Even now Muslim fundamentalists are warning us to convert or die. Ask Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig about their experience.

  12. “6-I do study the history of various regions. I don’t know it all; and I never will. You know far more than you let on most of the time and when you get going, you can usually take someone with your intellect!”

Well; I think that was sincere; so thank you.

Look; I love this Country. It is the best country on the planet. Unfortunately we have a lot of dumb people. I can’t help with the flat out idiots, but maybe; just maybe I can help with the smart yet misguided people.

Mike kilo of all people made me rethink welfare. My opinion is now different.

I now have a different opinion of the immigration from Mexico because of what I have read on this site.

I hope that maybe I could ‘learn’ some of you on some other topics.

Risk mitigation for example. (everyone in America is horrible at risk mitigation; are you really scared of sharks?)

Global warming (yes it is “warming”but NO ONE KNOWS WHY).

The sugar Subsidies in Florida that make many many candy makers leave America to save a couple of ridiculous sugar makers in Florida who give lots of money to politicians.

Ethanol. This one is seems to prove that the environmentalists might have their heart in the right place; but their idiocy prevents them from doing any real good (Wow, they could work for Secretary Rumsfeld)

Okay; I never type this much because I know no one will read it. So; I’m going to go beat my crying crack babies until they go to sleep; and then I’m going to drink a 40 of malt and smoke some rock.

    Best wishes to you all:

  13. 10.

The Bible does not recognize Jews and Muslims as equals to Christians either. They are all going to hell.

    11.

Even now, Christain fundamnetalists are saying convert, or you will burn in hell, which to them is a much worse fate than dying. They have relatively recently adopted that position from thier standard “convert ot die” stance that was held previously, although some (very few) do still hold that position.

    12.

I lpve this country too, but the country is pretty much doomed I’m afraid unless there is a very fundamental shift in its citizens political activities.

  14. 13
if you’re serious about your statement “The Bible does not recognize Jews and Muslims as equals to Christians either. They are all going to hell”,

you may want to check your born-again status. it’s not after the seeing of the eyes or the hearing of the ears one is judged, but after the heart.

do you have the ability to look into the hearts & souls of people? is that why your condemning them to hell?

are you God’s judge on earth? if so, do you take money to remove the judgement of hell you’ve placed on hundreds of millionms of people.

all the Jews are going to hell. yikes!

  15. Ted, In my 42 years as a Catholic, I have never been told either at mass, or in a religious ed class, that a Jews will burn in hell. I use the example of Jews because we recognize them, where as Muslims are not recognized, period. We are taught that if we believe in Jesus Christ, the only son of God, that we will be atoned for our sins and be in heaven with God. We are taught that God has another form of atonement for the Jew. But it is not taught that the Jews will burn in hell.

Even those that are running around saying accept Jesus as your lord and savior are not threatening at gun point the conversions.

  16. 14- shiloh, before you go jumping into converstions try following what Ted responded to. He was answering to both Sasha and myself on questions/ statements. He didn’t say I believe but rather used an example of!

  17. 13: Ted, I’d argue that if it isn’t Christlike behavior, it can’t be Christian and it can’t be from God. God doesn’t want a forced allegiance, so coercing people to convert to whatever at the point of a sword, gun or other torture device is coming from somewhere other than God, or a totally different god.
