Bombing At The US Embassy In Syria
The US Embassy was attacked early this morning by Islamic militants shouting “Allah akbar!”
Islamic militants attempted to storm the U.S. Embassy in a brazen attack Tuesday using automatic rifles, hand grenades and at least one van rigged with explosives, the government said. Syrian security forces killed three of the attackers.
The assailants apparently did not breach the high walls surrounding the white embassy compound in a diplomatic neighborhood of Damascus. But a Chinese diplomat was slightly injured by a stray bullet during the attack, China’s government news agency said.A witness said one Syrian guard outside the embassy also was killed, but the government did not immediately confirm that. At the embassy in Damascus, as at most American embassies worldwide, a local guard force patrols outside the compound’s walls while U.S. Marine guards are mostly responsible for guarding classified documents and fighting off attackers inside the compound.
Witnesses also said the gunmen tried to throw hand grenades into the embassy compound, shouting “Allah Akbar!” or “God is great!” It was not clear if any of the grenades made it over the walls, which are about 8 feet high.
As if the attacks weren’t bad enough, take a look at the comments from kos h/t to Mere Rhetoric
And so it begins. Could this be the start of an “October Surprise”? by smirkslapper on Tue Sep 12, 2006 at 12:51:38 AM PDT
… and:
all signs point to it being more BushCo propaganda.
come on, 9/11 five year anniversary?
congressional elections in a few months?
BushCo and/or Blair low poll numbers?
distraction from [gas prices/israel/iran/natural disaster/latest domestic political controversy]?
how much more clear could it be??
i personally won’t believe ANY of these so-called “terrorist” attacks are real unless they happen at least a year before any elections scheduled in the US or Britain, and even then only if gas prices are low, Bush and Blair have high approval ratings, and neither are being criticized in the media for any reason whatsoever.

Syria is a terrorist supporting country and a memeber of the UN so why should we continue to have anything to do with the wretched UN anyway?

Islamic Militants Attempt to take Over U.S. Embassy in Damascus
The key to keep in mind here is that this was yet another attempt by Islamic militants to do harm to American citizens. It is a pretty sad day when our very own state department can’t bring itself to say the words that all American’s need to hear.

From the looks of it, it seems like it could have been a lot worse than it was.
A “good job” to the defenders of the embassy.

I understand how those KOS posts look, but please realize that they’re a manifestation of the same frustration we feel here. Picking a few choice tidbits out would be like me posting stuff by Robert over at KOS. It’d give a very skewed and unrealistic view that the “Choir” over at KOS would find very satisfying to think was true.
1- Snowy Egret – By this time, our participation in the UN is, IMHO, simply as a means to keep lines of communication open. Never a bad thing. I agree that in this world strong borders are a must and that the world is simply not ready to “work together as one”. I just wish our president actually would do something about it instead of giving criminals amnesty and deliberately leaving the borders sufficiently porous to allow anyone a free ride across the border.

“Except that my posts make sense. The KOS crap is nutball wacko stuff.”
Uhhh, you’re a good guy Robert, but – yes – you are a partisan wacko.
And many of your posts reflect that.
Chuck made an excellent point.

I am a Conservative, not a partisan. If you think I am a wacko, you are entitled to your opinion.
But I dont believe:
1. Bush stole the 2000 election.
2. Stole it again in 2004.
3. Knew about 9/11 in advance.
etc.
Typical Daily POS mental patient fare.
