More Troubling News From Pakistan
Pakistan’s credibility as a leading ally in the war on terrorism was called into question last night when it emerged that President Pervez Musharraf’s government had authorised the release from jail of thousands of Taliban fighters caught fighting coalition forces in Afghanistan.
Five years after American-led coalition forces overthrew the Taliban during Operation Enduring Freedom, United States officials have been horrified to discover that thousands of foreign fighters detained by Pakistan after fleeing the battleground in Afghanistan have been quietly released and allowed to return to their home countries.
Pakistani lawyers acting for the militants claim they have freed 2,500 foreigners who were originally held on suspicion of having links to al-Qa’eda or the Taliban over the past four years.
On the question of whether released militants would return to jihad, Hazrat Aman, a field officer of the al-Khidmat Foundation, said: “If they react like that it is a natural phenomenon. Some of these people spent two to three years in jail. Some of them will live peacefully and others will join jihad again.”

Okay, the next time we recapture them on the battlefield, we simply load them on a rickety plane and ditch it in the ocean on the way to Gitmo. Pick up the flight crew and go get another plane. It’s really unfortunate that the plane went down with all of the prisoners on board handcuffed to their seats, but those 40 yr old C-130s can have maintenance issues and some of them need to be replaced at this point. It would be a major win win siuation for the US. Jobs to build new planes, no expense housing and feeding them, and because it would be an unfortunate “Accident” the UN crowd couldn’t complain too loudly.

Pakistan has never ever been a partner in the war on terrorism and its still a memeber of the UN why should we have anything to do with the wretched UN?

Gosh, it’s surprising that such a close ally like Pakistan would do such a thing. Their behaviour clearly demonstrates that they are no longer ‘for us’.
They must be against us.
Perhaps they were never ‘for us’. Perhaps, like most nations we have cajoled, bribed & threatened to be ‘with us’ in the war on ‘terror’, they have been for themselves all along.

In a way I can understand Pakistan’s position. After all, most of the Democrite leadership has been fighting on the side of the enemy, and none of them are in jail here…
