They Say A Picture Is Worth 1000 Words

Just outside Westminster Cathedral today…

As we came out about 100 Islamists were chanting slogans such as “Pope Benedict go to Hell,” “Pope Benedict you will pay, the Muja Hadeen are coming your way,” “Pope Benedict watch your back,” and other hateful things.

Big Lizards was able to get the reactions from various Muslim organizations:

Responding to this almost comically ironic proof of everything Emperor Manuel II Paleologus told his learned Persian, in the midst of a terrible crisis in the Islamic world, where Westerners around the globe see the Moslem community as hysterical, violent, and utterly out of control, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, as of 01:33 PDT, September 17th, 2006, had this to say:

Well! Who could argue with that? It’s a powerful counterargument to the thesis that Moslems are an excitable bunch, I’ll tell you. But I’m not quite sure it really makes the case for the religion of peace. But we’ll keep checking back with CAIR every now and again.

By contrast, the American-Arab Anti Discrimination Committee was much more voluble and forthcoming. Offering their position on the developing anti-Christian frenzy, President Hon. Mary Rose Oakar (former Congresswoman, D-OH) — last seen rapidly exiting the House after cashing over 200 bum checks on the House bank — addressed the issue forthrightly:

The Muslim Public Affairs Council likewise takes the boiling froth of Islamic paranoia and violent reaction just as seriously as do CAIR and the ADC. Speaking candidly about the crisis, MPAC said:

By contrast, the youngest and fastest growing moderate Islamic organization in America, the American Islamic Congress, seems to have nothing to say about the issue. They did, however, announce the prize winners of the “Dream Deferred” Essay Contest on Civil Rights in the Middle East.

So there you have it; let no one say the major Islamic and Arabic groups in the United States haven’t stepped up to the plate and at least shown how concerned they are about outrageous and unprovoked Moslem madness all around the world, in response to a minor anecdote in a speech that would seem otherwise to require propping one’s eyelids open with toothpicks, à la Fred Flintstone.

Such courage must be encouraged wherever we find it.

    It’s a shame, really.

It’s a shame that a sect of what is generally good people do not have the common sense to ignoire the religious radicals in their midst.

The more I examone this and the more things progress, the more I am beginning to think this really is a cultural war. It seems more and more that it is a contiuation of the last 900+ years, and that while these two religions exist on the same planet, they will always be at war.

Why would you want them to ignore the radicals? Why are the mainstream Muslims not doing something to stop this? Which 2 religions are you referring to?

    From Michelle Malkin’s website:

Meanwhile, they burn the cross and firebomb Christian churches because they know they have nothing to lose–not their heads, their lives, anything. But if we so much as drop a Koran, joke about Muslims, or draw Mohammed…

They are so much like the American Left. Total double-standards. The Left can be racist, sexist, filled with hate and that’s okay. But let a Conservative step on a crack in the sidewalk, and the Left is at war.

“Why would you want them to ignore the radicals?”

Let me clarify. In many instances, the “normal” Muslims allow passions to take hold without thinking, taking for granted what these radicals claims as being the truth. It is a mob mentality spurned on by radical Muslims and their leaders.

The two religions I am refering to is Islam and Christianity. They have been waring since 1095.

Actually during much of the period of the Crusades, many of the Muslims and Christians got along fine. Back then it was the radical Christians that were causing the problems. Until the Fall of Jerusalem to the Crusaders, and again after its recapture by Saladin 100 years later, the Christians, Jews, and Muslims lived together in relative peace. While the Christians were in charge that was another story, but that was still over 800 years ago. The major problem nowadays is that the religion of Islam has broken into sects as the Christian Church did during the Reformation, and some of those sects are very violent. While religious violence during the Reformation and 30 Years War was extremely brutal, it was in fact used as a means to an end. It was used to achieve a definable objective. Once the objective was obtained, the violence ended. It was not a part of the doctrine of any of the sects involved in the fighting. THAT is the major difference between the sectarian Christian wars of the 17th century and the modern Islamic violence. The sects promoting Islamofascism are calling upon obscure violent portions of Islamic doctrine to justify their actions and to indoctrinate impressionable young Muslims into supporting those actions. Another major difference is the level of weaponry involved. It’s only possible for large armies to destroy cities using 17th century technology, it is possible for very small bands of terrorists to achieve the same level of destruction using 21st century technology. Were the modern Islamofascist terrorist sects limited to 17th century technology, they’d barely raise a blip on the radar of history. However, because of modern technology, 19 highjackers were able to kill 3,000 people in one fell swoop. Should the Islamofascists once again attempt to commit mass murder using 17th century technology, they would simply be overpowered by their intended victims as they were on United flight 93.
