Venezuela’s Chavez Calls Bush ‘The Devil’ During Insult-Filled Speech to U.N.

By: Pam On: Sep/20/06 - 19 Comments

‘I have the feeling you are going to live the rest of your days as a nightmare… We need a psychologist to analyze Bush’…

As soon as a trascript is available, I will post it. Can you guess what he talked about? When trying to appear serious, he encouraged the assembly to read a Noam Chomsky paperback that he was carrying. He also said the U.N. in its current system “doesn’t work” and is “antidemocratic.” He called for reform, saying the U.S. government’s “immoral veto” had allowed recent Israeli bombings of Lebanon to continue unabated for more than a month.”Venezuela once again proposes today that we reform the United Nations,” he said. He later proposed that the United Nations move its headquarters from New York to Venezuela.

‘THE DEVIL CAME TO THE UN YESTERDAY… It Still Smells of Sulphur here… Bush, I have the feeling you are going to live the rest of your days as a nightmare… We need a psychologist to analyze Bush… YANKEE IMPERIALISTS GO HOME… Maybe we need to move the United Nations out of USA’

The above is more of what Chavez had to say today.

Why American media gives this guy the air time, is beyond me. Not only were we subject to his speech.. but he held court in a press conference afterwards.

Even more telling, during his speech and after his comments about Bush being the devil.. about still smelling sulfur at the podium…. and UN body laughed and chuckled. Laughing at him..or with him?

PLEASE move the UN out of the US – that much, I can agree with.

This also demonstrates the depths to which discourse and dialogue, and its value, has sunk to at the UN. Even during the height of the Cold War no one would get up and rambe insanely as this mental case Chavez did.
Yet today it is enabled and allowed.

Shut the UN down. Start over.

How about poor Evo! Wherever he looks, he sees extremists. And you, my brother — he looks at your color, and he says, oh, there’s an extremist. Evo Morales, the worthy president of Bolivia, looks like an extremist to him.

I’ll go with that. The U.S. should get out. Close the New York offices. Tear down that funky old building and put up a Burger King (it would be more useful).

Then move it to Venezuela, where it can serve as a world stage for every whacked out tinpot to stand up and preach to the hate America choir.

I’m sure peanut brain is quite thrilled with this! after all he has been planting anti-American seeds for more than 20 years now. How gratifying and fulfilling it must be for him to see the results of his efforts now poised (Iran, etc.) to cause trouble for the U.S. and the West.

Hey peanut brain: millions of people may die if Iran gets what they want. Ain’t it grand? Aren’t you proud?

I agree with the Chavez when he said “The U.N. system, born after the Second World War, collapsed. It’s worthless.”

    The UN is worthless.

I knew Jimmy Carter was going to be an unmitigated disaster before he was even elected. Unfortunately, they don’t generally listen to 14 yr olds when it comes to politics. There are times when I really wish I were wrong. I was old enough to vote against Clinton, but once again the unwashed illeducated masses won.

Bolton said it best when he responded that Chavez does not grant the same freedoms to his own people as he gets in Central Park.

Condoleeza Rice has been an abject failure. If the US had spent more time taking care of politics in its back yard instead of trying to form a democracy in Iraq Chavez never would have gotten into power. Yes I’m advocating diplomacy, and politicas as opposed to Nuke everything.

Fear only goes so far. Fairness and justice go a lot farther. If the IMF and world bank had been fair,if NAFTA had been fair, we would have had a lot more support in South America. The US has launched countless coups in South America. All they’ve done is create hostility and allowed someone like Chavez get elected. Chavez is likely to cause enormous problems.

Mark- Chavez was elected in 1998..Rice had nothing to do with it. In case you aren’t clear, the US had been trying to prevent hostile nations from arming with nukes…

Hugo Chavez is great. Very entertaining. I like his honesty. I wish more world leaders were more honest with their opinions. His comments remind me of some of the readers here.
