When he's truly energized about a topic, his tone is substantially more animated than his weak response on this. Honestly, I wish they would have the cajones to stand up and defend Bush against these 3rd world thugs without doing it for political gain. Unfortunately, I honestly believe that these protestations were done solely for political gain and not out of any bent toward defending the honor of the office of President. Just look at who stepped forward to represent the Democratic party on this subject. Which two democratic congressman are less likely to face any opposition in their districts than Charlie Rangel from NYC and Nacy Pelosi from San Fran? Doesn't it seem odd that the only Dems to make a loud public statement are those who have no fear of angering the wacko base in their districts? Chavez's speech angered the average Americans and the Dems are doing their best to distance themselves from him despite saying far worse themselves both at home and abroad. Why isn't it that John (I'm a war hero) Muertha wasn't the one making a stink over it? He was a career Marine officer and should've been fuming mad over Chavez's comments. Could it be that he's in a tight race for his congressional seat and doesn't want to affoend the Moveon.org crowd and potentially lose their support?
