They even flew in their sources in to be interviewed about the Representative. They shared this information with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Because of hate, Rogers and Avarosis managed to set the “gay movement” back about 10 years, because now, more than ever before, these two idiots have people equating homosexuality with pedophilia.

Hello and welcome back! Let me start by saying that THIS IS A REPUBLICAN SCANDAL! No arguement from me on that. When Foley gets out of his rehab, I should hope he is facing a judge. I have made that quite clear!
I have posted other items if you look in the months archives. Foley is one issue, and this is another all together. As for the Fox thing…take a look at the tickers on all the networks..this isn’t the 1st nor will it be the last…but for the love of god, why did the mistake have to have taken place with the name FOLEY!?
SF- There is more than enough evidense to show that many people have been in possession of this material for quite some time. The 2 people listed above have made it quite clear that they were going to do this..only now does it come out what the subject matter was..Why would any person in their right mind hold onto these letters in order to make a campaign issue out of it? How about all the kids that have come into contact with Foley since these other operatives got the info? Where do those 2 get off deciding who to out? I will stand by my statement that this set the gay movement back and you better believe that the DMA will be a hot button isse now more than ever. Take a good look at the left websites and compare them to the right..there is no distinction between pedophiles and homosexuals by either side!

I completely disagree.
This is a Congressional scandal, plain and simple. People insist upon dividing these things as a partisan issue, but it is clear to me that this type of cover up is par for the course on the Hill. Ethics are non-existant, and scandals abound, both REp and Dems for the last 30+ years.
As long as Foley has/had and R behind his name, it belongs to the republicans, but as for the rest of what you have said..AGREED

I really don’t differentiate between the “R” and the “D”. Really, they just take turns in power, and are secure in that fact. The both gather wealth and power in their own ways, but for all intents and purposes it is nothing more than a shared monopoly.
I don’t associate conservatives with Republicans nor do I assosciate liberals with Democrats. At one point that worked, but we are way beyond that now.
This is a scandal. No doubt about it. Was this information known well before it was released to the press? Absolutely. Was this information made public on the last day of the session so that no action could be taken to investigate it for political gains? What other possible reason would there be for NOT releasing the information until the last possible day of the session?
As for the fundamental difference between Republicans and Dems on this topic, you should look at the case of Democratic Representative Studds (sp?)who received 3 standing ovations after being censured for actually having sex with a 17 yr old male page versus Foley who was forced to resign and leave congress in shame for having cyber sex with a 17 yr old male page. Amazingly many of the Democrats who voted AGAINST censuring Studds are now loudly condemning Foley for doing far less.
I see the Lib is back enjoying the media double standard. Go back to 83 and see how Democrat Gerry Studds was treated by the media and fellow Democrats, some of whom are now salivating for committee chairmanships after the elections, for having sex with under age Congressional Pages.
PeejZ, I’m honestly not trying to poke here, I’m just a bit confused. In past posts, you’ve clearly stated that one problem with the Democratic party is the “acceptance of the gay lifestyle”. Now you have this post that talks about the Gay movement being set back 10 years.
What are you trying to say?

8- Chuck, I am not being bitchy, when I say this, but I would ask that you show me where I have stated that a problem with the Democrats is the gay issue. I have a gay sil, and her partner, so I guess I have 2 gay sils, and I am a huge supporter of Gay rights. I don’t think you will find me bashing the cause, maybe a messanger. In this case, I am horrified. Please note this post I just did. You have a radical handful of people that are bound and determined to out gay Republicans. What exactly does that accomplish? We have people equating gay people with homosexuals, again, what does that accomplish!?
9, P, I think you mean people associating Gays being pedophiles, because Gays are Homosexuals, but not all Homosexuals are predatory pedophiles.
9 Peejz, I went back and re-read the post where I thought I saw that, and I am very embarassed to admit that you did not make a statement like that. Please accept my sincere apologies. Well, just like when they did this to Dick Cheney’s daughter, they are attempting to demonstrate some sort of hypocricy by the Republican party, unsucessfully I might add.

13- Excellent example Ted. As a side note; I have found that the conservatives I speak to are pretty much split on this issue. Half accept gay the other half don’t. I sense that those opposed are split in half as well; 1/2 don’t approve due to religious reasons and the other 1/2 are just repulsed by it. But of those that are opposed, I am not seeing any that are calling for the ousting of any gay Republican. As you said, this was a failed attempt by prejudice people….bet you can’t guess where my mind is going when I say prejudice…
*Sigh* so sad but true. I think it boils down to a certain portion of the left that wants to rub it in the face of the people on the right that are intolerant of, as they call it, the “homosexual lifestyle”.

If people knew about Floey’s actions and concealed it just to play politics, they should be punished regardless of what party they belong to.

Peejz, I did not know you are a “huge supporter of Gay rights.” Does that mean you support gay marriage? Or civil unions? I’m just curious, because I never knew that before.

Well, I am not so sure that there will be any punishment handed out in this whole mess..the boys were of the age of legal consent….an issue that needs to be addressed imo..but there are lots of twists and turns in the case where some Democratic operatives chose to take the info and use it for political gain, rather than do the right thing and present the im’s to the Speaker, or the police..any numer of avenues…the e-mails were nothing to warrant any action..
Gay rights..I have always championed gay rights here.. I believe in the legal recognition of the partners..My sisters in law have been together for 25(? or just about) years, and they are no less a couple than my husband and I. They can’t leave pensions and other estate issues to each other as we can, they can’t give medical directives, in a death/dying situation as we can, they can’t cover the other on insurance as we can, and the list goes on…If I had to say which one I support, I would go with civil unions, as neither of them believe that marriage is the issue..in their opinion, marriage constitutes religion, and that is unacceptable (goofey sounding isn’t it? Their words not mine)in the eyes of most religions. All they want is legal reconition for the reasons listed…

If the pages were of legal consent, then the issue now is the cruel Democrite outing of gay people for political gain.
