When an AK47 Is Not an AK47

The self-righteous ignorance that drives so much gun control advocacy never ceases to amuse. Josh Feit’s latest column for the Seattle alternative weekly the Stranger is a classic of the genre.

It seems that as he stumps for fellow Republicans and paves the way for a potential presidential run, Rudy Giuliani is prudently backing off from his history of anti-gun demagoguery. Feit is hopping mad:

  1. The biggist fruad used by the liberal left-wing news media are words like ASSUALT RIFLE,GUNMAN or GUNNED DOWN i mean these are the most outragious example of how the left-wing news media only give one side of a story involving guns the gun control side:mad:

  2. The gun control debate is very much like the illegal immigration debate. There are no new arguments. Every one of the anti-gun arguments has been thoroughly debated and shot down. There simply do not exist any valid arguments for further infringement of the 2nd Amendment.

The same is true for the debate over illegal immigration. ALL of the issues have been debated, ALL of the arguments ahve been heard. Yet just this morning I read a letter to the editor in the local newspaper written by some idiot who asserted that “…the worst crime of all is what we do to people who come here just to fedd their families and try to better their lives.” This type of idiotic, oversimplfied, sound-byte argument keeps coming up all the time in both the gun control and immigration venues.

At some point it just becomes so tiresome. This article about the AK47s once again points out the utter ignorance that typifies the anti-2nd Amendment, and is typical of the pro-illegal sides.

  3. Robert- each week I want to try and post articles of interest on gun control…I mean this as a compliment that it is because of you guys, I am learning the ins and outs on the issue:smile:

  4. Peejz yes I understand and I wasn’t attacking you or the post. I was just making my point in advance that the anti-2nd Amendment types were on notice if they startring posting here.

btw, I cannot seem to post here using my IP addtress. My posts will not appear (for a week now). I have to use a proxy server in order to post. I emailed RV today about it; have I been banned?

  5. Robert, I didn’t think you were attacking me..I just was letting you know that I want to post this kind of stuff as it is a good way to learn..you know how slow I can be!

NO YOU AREN”T BANNED:shock: I will see if I can get to the bottom of it!

  6. Thanks and I am glad that I am not banned

I interviewed with an Army Reserve Unit in Oakland, CA last Saturday. Good opportunity, great training available, would have to come in as Enlisted but could get into the Warrant Officer program.

The big problem: They told me straight up as soon as I get trained and qualified, I’ll get orders for 15 months in “the sandbox”: Beautiful downtown Baghdad.

Personally, I have no problem with it. Huaaaah! But it is a heck of a sales job I need to do to convince the wife and family that this is the right thing to do. I can’t convince them that I would just be a rear-eschelon dude either. In this type of conflict, there really is no rear area. And the missions I would be on would take me out into the streets and homes and meeting the people on occasion.

    Very tough sales job….

  7. Please tell us how that sale goes:wink: I think it is tremendous that you would do this….

  8. Its easy for some liberal politician to call for more gun control while having their own armed bodyguards just like his royal painfulness TED KENNEDY and for wealthy socialists like ROSIE O,DONNELL and GEORGE SOROS and while MS O,DONNELL is calling for gun control she gets a gun for her adopted childs bodyguard and for ultra liberal left-wing colimists like CARL ROWAN to call for more gun conrol then going and using a gun to shoot some intruders and then former D.C. Mayor MARION BERRY gets robbed and the idiot is calling for more gun control showing his brain is the size of a walnut or perhapes smaller:razz:

  9. OR how about Sarah Brady getting indignant in a gun shop when the clerk had to raise his voice to be heard when calling in her name for the background check for the rifle she was buying for her son.

  10. Hey Robert Good luck on that. I managed to get the problems with my physical cleared up with new blood tests this week, so I’ll probably be going back into the Army in the next couple of months. With the new payscale, any college student without a hard science or engineering degree, should consider ROTC and a 4 yr tour. They can get their Master’s paid for and after 3 years be making around $50k. That’s not half bad. Even as an enlistee, a college grad starts at $20k with their student loans paid off in 3 years, their master’s paid off for a four year enlistment and get a lot better benefits than the civilian market. How many companies give full benefits with 30 days of paid vacation a year?

  11. Thanks FAO, my problem now is selling the idea to the wife and family. It’s not going well. I did 10 years in the Army NG, Infantry Rifle squad leader, post-Vietnam. Later 4 years as an Officer in the USAR. But the problem was we never had a real mission. This is my last chance before I start to become an old man to have a real mission. I don’t know if I’ll be able to make my wife understand that notion, that sentiment. Yes there is the danger element but life is inherently dangerous and none of us will get off this planet alive…

Good luck with your plans. America is fortunate to have those who are willing to serve. IMO those who volunteer to serve, especially in these times, represent the best America has.

  12. Robert, Back at you Buddy. Tell them that you’re going to try for an assignment in Europe. We still keep a sizable force in Germany. I’m shooting to go to Europe or Afghanistan. I’m going to try and get into either Intelligence and learn another language, or into CID. I’m getting too old and tired to be out there chasing bad guys through the weeds. I’d rather just sit back on a hill and call in an airstrike. Actually I’m healthy enough to chase the bad guys through the weeds, I always just preferred sitting back and dusting them from a distance. I’m a firm believer in the Indiana Jones school of sword fighting. Long distance is a lot better than being there. Let’em run, they’ll only die tired. Could be that the reason why I went into field artillery and MLRS. Hmmm 20 mile range and the ability to blanket large areas of terrain with cluster bombs. It really can be all good. LOL
