When THOUSANDS of veterans speak out saying that his idiotic comment was insulting to them, it was insulting. How else would you describe his comment that if you don't study you end up being stuck in Iraq? I made the Dean's list, qualify for Mensa, and went to college on an academic scholarship so I definitely found it insulting. There wasn't a single thing in that comment that indicated that it was about President Bush. For his arrogant ass to get up there and say that he has no intention of apologizing to anyone just shows how little he really does care about the military or the veterans that give him the ability to live his entire adult life in one government job after another, marrying one rich woman after another versus going out and actually having to produce his own wealth. I want a job wherein I can earn $160k+ working under 200 days a year and spend the rest of the time trying to get my contract renewed. Seeing as the president of the American Legion (the largest veteran's organization in the US) did as well, I would guess that a lot of people did. Kerry proved what a pompous ass he is by refusing to apologizing. How much effort would it have taken for him to simply say. "I'm sorry if anyone was offended, that was not my intention. I was trying to make a joke about President Bush and screwed up the delivery." That simple two sentence apology would've made him look so much better than that 10 minute idiotic rant he made. The truth of the matter is that any college grad who doesn't have a job lined up in a professional area should look at the military. Even as an enlistee, they'd make as much as most entry level positions with better benefits. As an officer the pay is excellent with benefits to match. How many employers out there not only pay off your student loans, provide medical, dental and optical insurance for the employee and medical for the family, as well as pays for continuing education, annual pay raises, 30 days paid vacation annually, and $25 - 50 flights virtually anywhere in the world? They also provide a wide variety of technical training programs. Has anyone looked at what an automotive mechanic at a dealership makes? At a good dealership, a mechanic can easily make $50k a year.
