Giuliani takes first ‘08 step..Hot On The Heals Of McCain
Former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani, a moderate Republican best known for his stewardship of the city after the 9/11 attacks, has taken the first step in a 2008 presidential bid. (H/T Ted)
Giuliani was widely praised for leading the city during and after the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. He has said for months that he would wait until the end of the 2006 elections to decide whether to embark on a White House bid. The former mayor is a moderate who supports gun control, same-sex civil unions, embryonic stem-cell research and abortion rights — stands that would put him at odds with the majority of the GOP conservative base. Giuliani has tried to sidestep those differences and offered strong praise for Bush at the 2004 GOP convention in New York. “It doesn’t matter what the media does to ridicule him or misinterpret him or defeat him. They ridiculed Winston Churchill. They belittled Ronald Reagan. But like President Bush, they were optimists. Leaders need to be optimists. Their vision is beyond the present, and it’s set on a future of real peace and security,” Giuliani said. “Some call it stubbornness. I call it principled leadership.”
What are your thoughts on Rudy? In the Straw polls I have seen, he and Newt are in the top…

While I doubt if he’ll get the Republican nomination, this perhaps would be the man that may be able to get me to vote in ‘08.

I’ll take OSU over U of M any day of the week!!!!!!! Just don’t ask me to support them during basketball!!!!
Rudy–I like him because he stands behind what he says and does. I see his gun stance as a huge issue for many, but the abortion as a small issue…The man respects the COTUS and therefore I believe his decisions will be in the best interest of the COTUS…if you look at his stance, it really is along the states rights line….in his state, they are restrictive on guns and really quite liberal on abortion..When looking at the big picture, I believe his decision making would adapt accordingly..Although NY was not East St Louis when he took office, it was very similar and it needed to be cleaned up. He did a hell of a job for both sides of the aisle..9/11 was just another situation for that man…

*gets on bended knee.
Peejz, will you marry me?
As for Rudy, I don’t agree with him on many issues either, but if given the chance he may be a decent egg when put in office- decently repectively honest with a bit of integrity.
But, we’d have to see. The road to hell is paved with the good intentions of politicians and the folks they stepped on to get there.

Rudy Steps In
I am very happy to see that Rudy Giuliani has thrown his hat into the ring and stepped up as a possible candidate for President in ‘08. So far, he is the one Republican candidate that I can take a serious look at for ‘08. Conservative Rep…
