UPDATE: If Given The Chance..Will Pelosi Chose Hastings- Impeached by the House and Convicted by the Senate

By: Pam On: Nov/13/06 -

Bumping this to the top as it appears that 13 days after the story broke, people are starting to realize it is no joke!
That would be for the House Intelligence Committee. And this is no joke. Pelosi considers Jane Harman, the ranking Democratic on the committee, to be ” insufficiently partisan”. The next in line is Florida Rep. Alcee Hastings. “In 1989, after being acquitted in a criminal trial, Hastings was stripped of his position as a federal judge — impeached by the House in which he now serves and convicted by the Senate — for conspiring to extort a $150,000 bribe in a case before him, repeatedly lying about it under oath and manufacturing evidence at his trial.” The Congressional Black Caucus has made it clear that it will not tolerate his rejection.

The only congressman who has been brought up before any jurisdiction to answer for actually having sex with a minor was (drum roll please)… the now late Gerry whatshisname from Massachusetts. For this he was censored by the house as a whole, but given a standing ovation and then a desirable committee chairmanship by the Democrats. Exactly how does this prove that the Dems aren’t going to put corrupt reps in positions of power? God knows they have the history to for doing it.

    shitto,

You have a problem with the dirt that keeps creeping out from under your Democrat rug. Hastings was IMPEACHED AND REMOVED FROM THE FEDERAL BENCH FOR A GOOD REASON!

Someone tell me again the Pelosi joke about running the House with Ethics and Morality.

    “…after being acquitted in a criminal trial…”

Is it just me, or is this kind of an important little thing to keep in mind here?

He was thrown off the Federal bench and impeached by the House in which he now serves and convicted by the Senate ” for conspiring to extort a $150,000 bribe in a case before him, repeatedly lying about it under oath and manufacturing evidence at his trial.” That is the part that is important…one doesn’t just get tossed off a federal bench SF..
