Thanks to Allahpundit for getting the word out on this story. His friends got an e-mail from him last November in which he politely informed them that (a) he was dead, and (b) they were invited to an all-expenses-paid party in Sin City to commemorate him.
“Don’t ever think that you are defending me by slamming the Global War on Terrorism or the U.S. goals in that war,” Jeffrey Toczylowski wrote. “As far as I am concerned, we can send guys like me to go after them or we can wait for them to come back to us again. I died doing something I believed in and have no regrets except that I couldn’t do more.”

Interesting that on the Webpage within this noble statement there is no reference to his wife or their child… I think, if you are married and/or have a child there is more than one life that you are responsible for.

Matthias, I believe I have determined why you value peace without regard for freedom. Your entire country has never had freedom without American blood being spilt to give it to you. Your ancestors did not fight for the freedom you enjoy, in fact they fought against it. Our ancestors fought for not only our freedom, but in the end against your forebears to insure your freedom as well. For that matter, other than the Swiss, without the US, there would be virtually no free countries anywhere in the world. The price of freedom is always paid in blood. And those who are willing to pay that price appreciate it, while those, like you, who are not willing to pay it do not. Freedom is like everything else in the world. Those who pay for it, appreciate it, those who have it given to them without cost, do not.
Peace without freedom is tyranny. If the world does not rise up and fight off the radical Islamic threat, peace will be defined as those who obey Sharia law will live and those who refuse will die. This is the stated goal of the radical Islamists.
BTW the motto of the US Army Special Forces is “De Oppresso Liber”. For the oppressed, freedom. That is what this young man died for. If you can’t understand that there are those willing to give their lives to provide freedom to the oppressed peoples of the world, than you are lost.
