And makes a complete ass of himself!
Do you think that Barbara Walters is hurting her image/legacy as a trail blazer and serious journalist, with the way she is allowing this show to be run?

I saw about five minutes of that interview then went back to work.
He’s a vile little grunt and I thought he’d just lost his mind beyond his days on Taxi. Didn’t realize he was drunk.
The whole spiel about sleeping in the Lincoln Bedroom was totally déclassé.
1- Agreed. See my update as I would like honest answers to the question:smile:
This was hilarious. Drunk or not he sure did act like an ass.
What exactly were those gestures and sounds he made with his mouth?
In response to your answer Peejz. I noticed Baba was a bit reserved, maybe even embarrassed. Rosie of course was laughing her ass off. I think she realizes that between Rosie and some of her guests things can get out of hand. The real question is does she see it hurting her image.
4- To answer your question, I don’t think she knows how to get out of the situation..
True. How long have the View been on? I don’t think I even know.
I have mostly respected Walters over the years. Nothing about her style offended me and some of her human interest stories were interesting. At her age and after a long career it would be a shame to taint it with trailer trash has beens from Hollywood.
10 years..What i found interesting is that they did an entire hour on fostercare and adoption just yesterday, yet Barbara, an adoptive mother, was not on the show. The show included both gay/straight people..granted, she isn’t on every show, but one that touches on a subject close to her heart? I found that odd..
Everytime you look some hollywood wacko is getting drunk of drugged whats with them anyway?
re 5
I think Barbara Walters is one “class act” (for lack of a better term).
I’ve always found her the very soul of diplomacy.
I think Miss Walters (given her trust and confidence in Rosie O’Donnell) knows precisely what she’s doing generally.. The woman (BW) is a television veteran and the famous (infamous?)like De Vito are (as are people regardless of association to film or television) going to be high on occasion.
That designation is certainly not one peculiar to Hollywood celebrities. Hell I had a hit off a joint last week and two glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon last night.
With regard to your greater question peejz;
No I don’t Walters has hurt the show if by ‘hurt’ you mean the addition of Rosie as the over-all master of ceremonies. In my estimation the addition of a strong and time-proven t.v. veteran talk show host like Miss O’Donnell has been a strength for the show. Rosie, additionally, has the opportunity (as I’m sure BW knows) to be a pioneer in the mainstreaming of gay families into the greater American cognizance of “family” given the visibility of Rosie and Kelly’s partnership and the raising of their four children.
Rosie’s opinionated and resolute. I like that in all people.
It’s a quality (if supported by fact) that I respect in all persons irrespective of political affiliation. With the removal of that preposterous and self-involved Star Jones and the exit of Meredith Viera I think the show’s finally come into its own. Remember Barbara’s not young and if she wants the show to go on she needs the addition of a capable woman. In Rosie she’s found one.
I think the dynamic between Rosie O’Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck (though anticipated to be acrimonious) has proven to be a really nice balance. I like the rapport. Joy Behar’s great too.
With Elisabeth asking the President if she could “bring Rosie along” instead of her husband to the White House Christmas gala I see real progress being made in the rejoining of the unfortunate factions into which this country’s been lately divided. That’s a bit strong but we have to begin somewhere.
In truth? I never watched The View except in passing when I was home.
With the exit of Jones and the introduction of O’Donnell I make a point of watching it whenever I’m able. There’s never a dull moment and it’s entertaining. The drama piece is fun too.
