Good for Mary and Heather!

Obviously I don’t like the veep’s politics, but I do agree that his is an impressive intellectual presence.

At times I even find him oddly charming, in a Lex Luthor sort of way.

My dad’s not unlike Cheney too in manner and intellect. It can be daunting at times Peejz but there’s a natural strength to it that always made me think twice before making a dubious decision grwoing up.

Exactly! I know that Cheney is not well liked, but I am taken with the man’s intellect. I have said before that listening to him is like listening to my own father (at times)..and I’ve got to believe that both Dick and Lynne have been tremendous role models to both girls and parents that lead a very public life, but never let the public into their lives..in other words…screw what people will say about you Mary, and forget that people will try to make your sexuality an issue with us..we love you no matter what and we support you no matter what…

I can’t understand how a parent could not accept their child for what they are…

Yes exactly. Your point about the two “top fellas” holding differing views is interesting to me and cannot be lost on those who’d think “all conservatives are just alike”.

Never in my experience as an American have I ever seen a veep more devoted to his President. Yet when David Letterman interviewed Mary Cheney I was taken with her composure and strength of postion.

She was diplomatic yet intransigent all during that interview. She has her father’s strength of will no question.

More than that;

I’ve long-maintained that only real way to exact effective social change is to live your reality by example.

Me too..I just happen to catch it..

One of the things that it taught me..Cheney and Bush can hold different opinions and still work together and respect each other.

My favorite politicians offspring to speak out? Dick Gephardts daughter Chrissy Gephardt….when MO voted to ban gay marriage, she was so positive and upbeat..she looked at the amount that voted against the ban and spoke of them…

I send them my heartfelt congratulations.

It’s not easy in this day to raise a child well (let alone in a two parent household).

Mary Cheney’s taken some heat for not being more “out” politically within the gay community It must have been tough for her given the President’s stance on gay marriage. The VP (for obvious reasons) feels differently than his immediate superior for obvious reasons.

Telling I think how personal experience will change someone’s view of things.

With regard to Mary Cheney and her public visiblity; “each in his (her) own way”.

I wish Mary and her Heather only good things.
