Nah, just someone that wanted to assure a Democratic victory in 1980. Reagan was a more worthy opponent and beat Cronkite at his own game!

Also this; after Agnew had to resign for tax evasion “Nixon needed an honest man”. He did too.
And he found one in an old school Republican named Gerald Ford.

I hjave been calling him “Walter Commiekite” for years because of his initiative in securing the stunning political victory achieved for the Communists after the Tet Offensive in Vietnam.
The Tet Offensive was a disaster for the Communists in every way: The presumed popular uprising did not happen, the Vietcong were annihilated and finished as an effective fighting force. It was a truning point; that war at that time was very winnable. Giap was almost despondednt.
But Commiekite came to the rescue! He stepped up and using (abusing) the trust the American public had in him, Commiekite delivered his “the war is unwinnable” asessment and turned utter defeat into political victory for the Communists. Encouraged and renewed, the North pressed on, and instead of ending the war, for four more years Americans died in the jungles that wouldn’t have had to had Commiekite kept his uninformed propagandistic mouth shut.
It’s no wonder the Left loves and idolizes him; he’s secured his place in the Traitors Hall of Shame and definitely serves as an MSM role model for anti-war Leftists of any era.
For this I despise Commiekite. He can rot and burn in hell imo. If he died tomorrow, I would urinate on his grave.

Commiekite was actually a brilliant military strategist, and was very qualified to make that asessment! Right? And of course he was and is trusted by the American people, because he was correct then, and subsequent events proved that! Right?
But the main point is that we are just knuckle-dragging simpletons and dolts who are unable to comprehend the macro situation….right?
ON the topic of anyone being small minded, I have but one question. Who is truly small minded? The dead pacifist who stood by his values and refused to defend himself, his loved ones, and the liberties that made life worth living, OR the militarist who prepared and armed himself for the coming confrontation thereby killing his planned oppressor and insuring the safety of not only his life and liberty but that of his loved ones as well?
As the poster on the wall of the ROTC building used to say, US Army paratroopers give the enemy the maximum opportunity to give their lives for their country. For a US Soldier or Marine, there are never too many enemy, only too few bullets. Of course should that situation arise, the tough get going and the smart call in an airstrike. Close may count in Horseshoes and Handgrenades, but rough general vicinity works for artillery and 500 lb bombs. LOL

FAO I recall a poster that make sense and tell the story. One said “The best way to preserve the peace is to prepare for war”. And it is exactly right.
Of course the intellectual antiwar types could never comprehend or acknowledge the simple truth of that statement. But in the context of human nature and reality, backed up by thousands of years of historical experience, it is 100% correct.
