The President’s Message To The New Congress

By: Pam On: Jan/3/07 - 7 Comments

The President wrote an op-ed article featured in the Wall Street Journal today.  The point of the article is clearly stated: Let them say of these next two years: We used our time well. I agree with Captain Ed’s assessment:

he challenges the Democrats to working in a bipartisan manner on national security and fiscal responsibility, but the Democrats may have their own ideas on both subjects

Ed is correct in that the Democrats don’t understand what it is that got them elected.  As I posted yesterday, they have already chosen to break their promise of bipartisan legislating.  The Democrats were not elected this past November because people want tax increases and huge increases in social welfare programs.  The people want to see their tax money being spent wisely.  We want to see results.  We are fed up with the bickering and the unending game of gotcha.  I have said it before and I will say it again, Bill Clinton offered them some great advice, “don’t kid yourself into thinking that you were handed a mandate”, they would be wise to heed it!  Time will tell how much change we see…I am not banking on it with this Congress!

    1. What makes you assume someone wrote it for him? Speechwriters write speeches with input of ideas from the President who is giving the speech. After the speech is written it is approved and edited by the President himself. I would believe that an op-ed would be totally written by the president or at the least with a speechwriter by his side for editing purposes.

It’s a great piece and should be read by everyone. Democrats didn’t get control because they were better but rather that people want our representatives to WORK TOGETHER more. Think about it.

No less so than most memebers of Congress or any other man that’s served as President.

Well of course he’s a serious intellectual lightweight, as San Francisco Liberal pointed out! Anyone that is not a Liberal, by definition, is intellectually inferior. That just how it is; everybody knows it; in Academia it is well accepted!
