7. Your links lack total credibility. Sorry San Fran. I don't buy into your way of thinking. For me, 9/11 was a wake up call for everyone although I had been paying attention to the world news long before that and understood that there were many in the middle east who wished the U.S. and other countries harm.

We propped Saddam up only because Iran was a bigger threat. It was a mistake but you should make no mistake about it that he had WMD and the technology to make more within a short period of time BECAUSE we were the ones who gave it to him. Faulty intelligence? I think not. And further I believe the satelite photos of all the 18 wheelers shipping those things over to Syria after he became aware that we were once again on his tail.

As far as the issue of terrorism escalating I would ask that you begin to look at the incidents involving terrorism over the years. Terrorism was escalating in the '90's until it peaked with 9/11. What's going on over there now is a rooting out of these elements and bringing them to justice.

Sandy, nearly every single one you just mentioned was against his own people/in his own borders and concerning the Iran/Iraq War...you DO realize that the US supported Saddam with money, weapons and intel? Don't you?

I don't see how any of those that you listed was a threat to the US and our interests, excluding Kuwait.

--------------------------

Ted, both are factual.

Post-Gulf War Iraq was not much of a threat. A nuisance yes, but a threat deserving what we have since done - no. Saddam was isloated economicly and militarily. His WMD program was practically non-existant as has now been proven. Oops!

And YES, the Iraq War has increased terrorism and hatred for America worldwide.

Proof?

here.

and here...

and here...

oh...and here too.

But hey now, my conservative friends, don't let facts get in the way of your opinion.

1980-88: Iran-Iraq war left 150,000 to 340,000 Iraqis and 450,000 to 730,000 Iranians dead.

1983-1988: Documented chemical attacks by Iraqi regime caused some 30,000 Iraqi and Iranian deaths.

1988: Chemical attack on Kurdish village of Halabja killed approximately 5,000 people.

1987-1988: Iraqi regime used chemical agents in attacks against at least 40 Kurdish villages.

1990-91: 1,000 Kuwaitis were killed in Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.

1991: Bloody suppression of Kurdish and Shi'a uprisings in northern and southern Iraq killed at least 30,000 to 60,000. At least 2,000 Kurdish villages were destroyed during the campaign of terror.

2001: Amnesty International report: "Victims of torture in Iraq are subjected to a wide range of forms of torture, including the gouging out of eyes, severe beatings and electric shocks... some victims have died as a result and many have been left with permanent physical and psychological damage."

Human Rights Watch: Saddam's 1987-1988 campaign of terror against the Kurds killed at least 50,000 and possibly as many as 100,000 Kurds.

Refugees International: "Oppressive government policies have led to the internal displacement of 900,000 Iraqis."

Iraq's 13 million Shiite Muslims, the majority of Iraq's population of approximately 22 million, faced severe restrictions on their religious practice.

FBI: Iraqi government was involved in a plot to assassinate former President George Bush during his April 14-16, 1993, visit to Kuwait.

Yep...that's what I call very little terrorism.

And by the way...who really cares if the rest of the world doesn't LOVE all Americans? It's not like this feeling is anything new.

It's a shame really that they just don't get it. It being the fact that we are fighting terrorism over there on their home turf, not here on ours, and that we should have been doing more of this since the Gulf War in 91.

The phrase comes to mind whenever I hear the rhetoric like this from those dems. Surrender Dorothy...or in this case just surrender America.

I never thought I'd see the day when one political party wanted desperately for the U.S. to surrender and lose.
