Kennedy Still Fighting Vietnam While Durbin Looks To dKos For Legislation Tips

Oh brother!  I am fed up with the Vietnam comparisions..Kennedy knows full well that we are not involved in another Vietnam, yet that didn’t stop him today:

Kennedy said he would introduce legislation that would “prohibit the use of funds for an escalation of United States Forces in Iraq above the numbers existing as of January 9, 2007,” unless and until Congress approves the president’s plan.

ALLAHPUNDIT has the video here and says that:

Fox says the first wave of new troops will be in country by the end of the month. If Teddy wants to defund them, he’d better do it before they get there.

Update (AP): Anti-war Republican Sen. Gordon Smith digs Teddy’s demand for a vote to block funding. Alas, Harry Reid prefers the timid, non-binding resolution approach instead.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Dick Durbin blogged at dKos for the first time today: Help me set the Senate’s agenda

Tell me what priorities you want the Senate to focus on.  Click here to rank the most important issues facing America now!

That’s like going to a prison to look for honesty.

  2. Somehow though they forget that it was only in the past year these very people were saying we should increase troop levels. I guess that now that Bush might suggest it it can’t be right.

  3. As usial the infamous chapaquedic ted is being the biggist jerk around why dont he just retire and quit being such a jerk:mad:

  4. I read this somewhere online but Iraq would be more like World War II than Vietnam.

Iraq isn’t Vietnam, it’s Guadalcanal–one campaign of many in a global war to defeat the terrorists and their sponsors. Like the United States in the Pacific in 1943, we are in a war of national survival that will be long, hard, and fraught with casualties. We lost the first battle of that war on September 11, 2001, and we cannot now afford to walk away from the critical battle we are fighting in Iraq any more than we could afford to walk away from Guadalcanal. For the security of America, we have no recourse but to win.

I need to give proper credit for the quote above. It was made by a retired Lt. General….I’ll give ya’ his name when I find it again.

But listening to Kerry’s “Hatchet Man” always turns my belly inside out….why do some people still take him seriously?

  5. Isn’t Durbin knocking down close to $200,000? He can’t come up with the agenda?

  6. Maybe Turban Durbin’s communications link with the enemy is down. He has nowhere else to go for instructions but Daily Pos.
