Democrats Can’t Succeed On Talk Radio, Therefore They Will Gut It

Dennis Kucinich announced that the Fairness Doctrine may make a comeback:

Over the weekend, the National Conference for Media Reform was held in Memphis, TN, with a number of notable speakers on hand for the event. Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) made an surprise appearance at the convention to announce that he would be heading up a new House subcommittee which will focus on issues surrounding the Federal Communications Commission. The Presidential candidate said that the committee would be holding “hearings to push media reform right at the center of Washington.” The Domestic Policy Subcommittee of the House Government Reform Committee was to be officially announced this week in Washington, D.C., but Kucinich opted to make the news public early.

In addition to media ownership, the committee is expected to focus its attention on issues such as net neutrality and major telecommunications mergers. Also in consideration is the “Fairness Doctrine,” which required broadcasters to present controversial topics in a fair and honest manner. It was enforced until it was eliminated in 1987.

Says Captain Ed:

Democrats aren’t wasting much time in rolling back free speech now that they have the majority. Putting Kucinich in charge of domestic policy reform was no mistake on their part. They want to kill talk radio, and if they manage to hold their majority and win the White House in 2008, they just might do it.

    Radio.. schmadio…

they’re succeeding in the House and Senate and in less than two years they’ll be back in power and restore some semblance of fairplay to the Oval Office.

All the radio forum exists for is for blowhards to spout hateful rhetoric.

Opinions are like assholes – and with the invention of the www and the likes of Limbaugh’s fat small-dicked ass spouting nonsense? “Everybody’s got one”.

Yes, of course, disagreeing with the Left, pointing out the corruption of the Democrites, discussing the rampant hypocrisy of the Liberals, that’s all HATE rhetoric  !!!

Therefore, it must be censored, must be banned!!! Especially now that the Democrites are in control of Congress, it is time to stamp out all opposition to the Liberal way! It may be unconstitutional, unAmerican, but the “Fairness” doctrine will achieve the Fascistic ambitions of the Left!!!

Of course, Liberals loved radio, even launched their own network, when they thought they could win there. Now that experient is over and they realize they can’t get traction with the (more intelligent) radio audience. So their response? Destroy it.

    Sick, sick, sick…

It’s outrageous, to be sure, but not unexpected coming from the party of weakness.

Oh, and there are some possible upsides to the ‘fairness doctrine’… (evil grin).

Eben and DV are lefties who hate anyother message getting out.

Eben, I suppose your are very proud and support the Duke concerned faculty for crucifying the the Lacrosse team by trying them in their little group without facts and without the participants. Sounds like just the type of Kangaroo court Stalin was known for.

I think all academics like you should be fired. The Duke professors who flunked those players in retaliation should not only be fired, sued, but put on a chain gang to experience REAL WORK.

That’s how it is with spoiled liberals. They shout when they have nothing substantive to say. A shallow brook and all that.

What I find most interesting is that the “Liberal” Democratic party is the very party that is doing its level best to gut the Constitution. How else do you describe Censorship (political correctness), civilian disarmament (Gun control), Suppression of religion (Do I REALLY need to provide examples of this?) Suppression of free speech (Fairness doctrine and threats against those who question man’s impact in global warming) etc, etc, etc?

Historically most political systems last about 200 years before undergoing a major transformation to an entirely different system. Should the Democrats pass all of their planned legislation, the resulting economic downturn could lead to a revolution if it turns out to be bad enough. A few more terrorist attacks and high enough unemployment and inflation and this country would be ripe for a revolt. With the political ill will that the Dems have stirred up in the last few years, I doubt very many people would come to their rescue should a revolt begin.
