About Those Polls
Many times I am asked about the latest poll; if I don’t write about them,  I am accused of not liking what they say. If I do cite them, I am selectively poll watching.  That isn’t the case. Within the past week, various different polls came out and as usual they all had different results. Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg Poll. Jan. 13-16, 2007, Poll: Americans Not Swayed By Iraq Plan, or Poll: Americans Split On Troop ‘Surge’  I am going to cite Brit Hume :
- The latest FOX News Opinion Dynamics poll indicates almost half of those surveyed believe Democrats want the president’s plan for Iraq to fail.
- 48 percent said they believe Democrats are hoping for failure and a U.S. troop withdrawal in defeat. 32 percent said they believe Democrats want the president’s plan to work.
- The president’s favorable rating was 38 percent in the latest poll ” down five percent from October. But that was higher than the number for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who came in at 33 percent.
I didn’t cite Hume for the stats, but for the simple fact that if you actually took the time to study each poll, none of the questions are the same, none of the sample groups are over 1500 people and we are told that they are random calls from around the country but we really can’t verify that.Â
Another example of why polls are flawed:
The New York Times is coming under fire for a story this week with the headline proclaiming “51% of Women Are Now Living Without Spouse  The story is based on 2005 census data. But critics point out that 51 percent of women includes more than 10 million girls between the ages of 15 and 19, and 2.5 million women whose husbands are working out of town, in the military, or in institutions. It also includes nine million widows who obviously were married until their husbands died. That same census data indicates 94 percent of all U.S. women above the age of 50 will have married some time in their lives.
Unless they poll 3,000,000 people, please don’t tell me how 1/2 the country feels..you have no idea how half the country feels. You have a good idea how 1000 people in the country feel!

This article reflects perfectly the problem what goes wrong in your heads, folks:
You care about the opinion of the Democrats and the American public on a topic that affects the whole world. What about your loved buzzwords of “Freedom” and “Democracy”??? You (with your whatever polls) decide for the rest of the world, what is best for it without asking them? Hello?

Mattias, Bugger off! The world hardly ever ask the US for its opinion, just for its money. So, once again, bugger off!

2- When does the world ask you for your money?! Most of your military expenses are the consequence of unilateral actions!
Besides, why should I/we bugger off? I wouldn’t wonder, if Condi is begging Merkel again for some more military support in Afghanistan and Iraq… So, who is asking whom for something, dunce?

Mattias, you are a buggering blockhead. You haven’t heard UN speeches where the US is at fault for every disaster and greedy because we haven’t emptied our treasury.
Every earthquake, tsunami, or other natural disaster the world DEMANDS the US make the people affected whole. We even sent money and aid to victims of earthquakes in Iran.
If there is a “stupidhead” here, it is you, Mattias.

3- Are you saying that the only foreign aid we give is to those that from military action? Do you really want to open that can of worms or do you want to do a bit of homework and comeback with a different action.
Talking to Merkle has nothing to do with our foreign aid…that would fall under diplomatic relations…

6- Yes, and in 1776 we sent a package of Bratwursts to G.Washington… not to mention all the favors my people did to your people, when all of us were still living on Pangea and living somewhat closer
But serious, I’m really really thankful for my country being abused by the USA and the SU as the first line of defense with my officers (when I was at the Army) expecting from me to shoot at my Eastgerman fellow countrymen, whenever some loony Breshnev or Reagan found this to be a good idea! You superpowers did so much for us greedy stupid little Germans without demanding anything… Actually the same way you do it for those thankless assholes in Iraq!
