Who’s The Bigger Ass? Beth Gorham Or Senator Patrick Leahy

This article caught my eye.  It was written for the AP by Beth Gorham, and is titled Bush in for some rude awakenings on security matters beyond Arar, says Leahy. I am not quite sure who to call the bigger ass so I’ll report it and you decide it:

Gorham:

  • It’s just the start of some rude awakenings for President George W. Bush.

He could just tell Leahy to f’off like Cheney did!

  • Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy, whose furious demands for answers about Maher Arar played big on U.S. networks this week, says there’s a lot more to come.

Where?  NPR?

  • With Democrats in charge, Bush’s top officials are facing the kind of rigorous scrutiny long lacking on Capitol Hill.

Did she fail civics in high school?  Where does she get the impression that Congress has more power than the POTUS?  The POTUS doesn’t answer to Leahy..

  • There have been other recent U-turns for an administration coming to grips with the new Democratic reality. Bush agreed this week to disband a contentious warrantless surveillance program and replace it with one that will be overseen by the secret court that governs clandestine spying in the U.S.

FindLaw has a photocopy of Gonzales’s letter to Leahy. The administration advised Leahy, Leahy had nothing to do with the decision.

  • On Thursday, Leahy tore a strip off Attorney General Alberto Gonzales at the judiciary committee the senator chairs, saying U.S. officials knew “damn well” Arar would be tortured if he was deported to Syria in 2002 and demanded answers.

Tore a strip off? Oy..

Leahy- okay it kinda speaks for itself..he is insecure and needs you to know he is the big kahuna cause he has a little one:

“These kind of questions were not asked of the attorney general before I was chairman,” said Leahy. “I think it demonstrates to him that things are different now.

“We are not intimidated by the administration.”

But Leahy hesitates to promise he’d make the entire Arar file public, just as Canada’s inquiry last fall held back classified information.

“This may well be the same situation,” he said.

“I’ll see what the file says.”

Okay, so he shoots his mouth off and talks tough until it is time for the committment and what does he say?  Oh they could be right about it.

Flashback:

expressing his unhappiness with the conduct of the Democratic senator from Vermont — who Cheney said had publicly questioned his integrity, and then wanted to be friendly when he saw him in person.

Sources who related the incident to CNN said the vice president had told Leahy either “f— off” or “go f— yourself.”
