Sticker shock for Massachusetts universal health insurance

By: Pam On: Jan/20/07 - 3 Comments

That didn’t take long for the problems to begin:

  • A state panel yesterday outlined for the first time the minimum requirements for coverage under the state’s new health insurance law, a package estimated to cost $380 a month on average for an individual, more than $100 above recent estimates.
  • The minimum plan would limit annual out-of-pocket expenses to $5,000 for an individual and $7,500 for a family and include prescription drug coverage, according to the proposal by a subcommittee of the Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector board, which is implementing the new law. The full board will vote on the proposal Monday.
  • The estimate of $380 a month in premiums came from a summary of initial bids by insurance companies. Actual premiums will not be set for months.
  • As proposed, deductibles would run no higher than $2,000 per individual and $4,000 per family. Before the deductible kicks in, the plan would have to cover some medical visits and generic drugs to encourage preventive care. Insurers could not set limits on coverage per sickness, year, or lifetime, nor could they set a dollar maximum of coverage for any medical service.

For those not eligible for subsidized care, this appears to be unaffordable..  Wasn’t that what universal healthcare was all about?

So can i ask who has that kind of money? maybe some Mexican Drug Dealers can put out $5,000 or $10,000 OUT-OF POCKET a year for some low life government plan that is a lot of bull but some of us have a plan like the VA And others only pay out maybe $800.00 a year, so the government wants more money? for the poor of the third world which from what I am starting to understand will come here by the millions soon right?

The system is insane way to many nuts and low-life people working inside it to take us down, like the jihadist sen. Barack Obama, read about his plan for you, clinton and bush two of a kind, with obama working from behind.

But why doesn’t the Gov’t just give health care for FREE? Tax the rich to pay for it! They have stolen their money anyway, right? They stole it from the poor!!!

Hey do you think with that message I could be Osama Obama’s running mate?

Global Warming update (for SFL and other true religious zealots):
On the weather channel, they are trying to exclude anyone who does not regurgitate the Politically-approved GW dogma. Some “experts” are also calling for revoking the professional credentials of any meteorologist who even questions the assertion that human activity is a major cause of GW.

The nutballs have gone over the edge. Surely even a true believer like San Francisco Liberal can recognize that the “humans cause GW crowd” have become the brownshirts on this issue. Or can he?
