To Whom it may concern:

Do you ship to APO addresses?
I’m in the 1st Cavalry Division stationed in Iraq and we are trying to order some mats but we are looking for who ships to APO first.

SGT Hess,

We do not ship to APO addresses, and even if we did, we would NEVER ship to Iraq. If you were sensible, you and your troops would pull out of Iraq.

Bargain Suppliers
Discount-Mats.com

Now Bargain Suppliers is concerned for the saftey of their employee and his family.  Via the Journal Sentinel online:

Bargain Suppliers of West Allis said its discount-mats.com Web site had to be taken down Monday to address the thousands of e-mails it’s received since news of the exchange - in which an employee voiced opposition to the war in Iraq - began circulating on the Internet last week.

Vice president Sajid Nasir said the employee is being “held accountable.” But he said the incendiary and threatening nature of some of the e-mails - and voicemails left at the West Allis home that co-owner Faisal Khetani shares with his parents - have shaken the family.

“It’s really getting out of control,” said Nasir, who described the messages as “angry and vulgar.”

“Our main concern is for the safety of the family. That’s more important than the business,” he said.

Repeated attempts to reach the Khetanis were unsuccessful.

The controversy exploded last week when a soldier, identifying himself as Sgt. Jason Hess of the Army’s 1st Cavalry Division, sent an e-mail to discount-mats.com asking if it ships to military addresses.

Someone on the other end answered no, but went on to add that “even if we did, we would NEVER ship to Iraq. If you were sensible, you and your troops would pull out of Iraq.”

Anti-war and free speech advocates were equally offended, by the widespread criticism of the company and the individual who responded to the soldier.

“This is a matter of free speech,” said Julie Enslow, an organizer with Peace Action Wisconsin in Milwaukee. “It is totally irresponsible for radio stations and bloggers to attack a person for his personal political views.”

Othman Atta, president of the Islamic Society of Milwaukee, said he would fault the worker for his lack of tact but defended his right to speak his mind.

“If you look at the polls, his opinion is reflected by a majority of Americans now,” Atta said. “In the United States, everyone one is free to speak their opinion.”

Atta appeared concerned that the controversy might fuel anti-Muslim and anti-Middle Eastern sentiment.

“Some people will look for any excuse to target people from the Middle East,” he said…

The best way to protest this guy’s idiotic response has already been taken. Simply insure that EVERYONE knows what asses they are and to NOT do business with them. It will cost them far more to try (and fail miserably) to mitigate the fall out from this stupid act than it would’ve cost them to just send him a mat for free in the first place.

Let me explain a little something to those who want to scream that this is a free speech issue. Rights are a two edged sword. Just because you have to right to do something does not mean that you may do it without consequence. That is called responsibility. With every right, there is the responsibility to accept the consequences of exercising that right. If you are unwilling to accept the responsibility, you should refrain from exercising the right. You have the right to speak your mind, you do not have the right to offend others without taking responsibility for doing so. You have the right to own a gun, you do not have the right to run around firing it wrecklessly. Your rights end when you impinge on another person’s. As the old saying goes, your right to swing your fist ends at the tip of my nose. Why do liberals feel that they have the right to do anything they want without taking responsibility for it while trying to deny others their rights who are willing to accept the responsibility for exercising them? For Example Gun Control, and also the use of spanking as discipline.

As I guess that conservatives pay with the same money as liberals, this employee will get enough wacks from his boss- if he still has one…

BUT, this website was formerly known as “boycott-hollywood.com”, where four years ago the owners loved to motivate the American public to boycott anybody who wasn’t compliant with the Bush administration’s opinion. The ultimate joke which the world could laugh about were the famous “Freedom Fries”… So, does anybody here now seriously complain about this poor idiot who mixes up political attitude and business/job? Doing stupid things is not clearly allowed by your constitution- but it isn’t prohibited either!

The employee has been fired. I guess you do have comprehension problems..this site, formerly known as Boycott-Hollywood, posted the companies names, addressess and contact numbers. Obviously, their business will suffer,as it is basically not operating as we speak, just as the previous boycotts we did.
As for the past boycotts…if they weren’t effective, why did Hollywood power brokers try to get the website shut down?

Clearly the actions of “Boycott Hollywood” had a powerful effect on the nation’s film industry.

      Peejz,

I have to care. My Eldest is trying to break in Hollywood as a Art Director. Anyone have suggestions for gainful employment for such a person, I’m all ears, like a Ferengi.

6-Don’t really see too many shooting their mouths off anymore do you?

      Let’s see…

The odds on favorite for the best picture oscar is Babel, which includes sympathetic portrayals of Muslims against the ugly Americanism of intnl tourism in addition to a transparent critique of US border regulations. Those involved with the film have made their politics well known.

The documentary category, usually a litmus test for Hollywood’s politics includes An Inconvenient Truth (no need to tell you what that’s about), Iraq in Fragments and My Country, My Country (both very critical of the Bush regime’s asinine foreign policies), Jesus Camp (subtly mocking right-wing religious morons), and the least political of the bunch, Deliver Us from Evil (pedophile priests).

The idea that the “boycott” of Hollywood made any difference is just silly. Film profits may be down, but the multi-media conglomerates who own the film companies are doing just fine. That’s because what has cut into film profits are DVD sales, internet, etc. People are just seeing the films at home (on TV or online). Actors’ salaries certainly aren’t decreasing, and films haven’t looked this left wing since the early 70s.

Gensor you are quite right. Hollywood is doing just fine, and will continue to drive American culture ever lower while making a profit! Good thing they are on our side, because it is an unstoppable force. Many good Liberals are part of the Hollywood team, and that is why Hollywood is so effective at destroying those tired, obsolete mores and hangups that traditional culture used to saddle people with. Well no more!

10- You are trying to disprove what I said, by throwing out awards that are voted on by Hollywood?:lol: The films you listed? What’s the overall release of those films? Were they worldwide or select cities?

Profit- Those DVD sales are inclusive of the losses. If not for the DVD’s, internet and cable deals, things would look even worse.

Boycotts haven’t made a difference? Hmmmm, let’s see..2000 and studios were making money 2007 and studios are not making the money they were…so, regardless of your beliefs, the facts stand behind me.

Then I’ll have to rush out and see Babel! As a Liberal, I am so happy to see Hollywood showing the world that it is indeed the “ugly American” tourist that is the problem, NOT the kind, benevolent, loveable Muslims!

I KNEW that the bombs, the shootings, the attacks, the hijackings were really being done by the ugly American tourists! Thanks for promoting “Babel” and validating my thinking, Gensor!

It is sooo wonderful to be a Liberal! We understand things that no one else can! Like the fact that Muslims are good, and the ugly American tourist is baaad!!!

I usually go see a movie once a week and make no mistake. I first check out whose in it and what the story is about. I refuse to see Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn, or George Clooney to name a few. It’s a shame too about Clooney because he’s a hunk

Yes, I boycott and will continue to do so for a long time.
