Democrats Drop Key Sept. 11 Commission Recommendations From Senate Measure
It seems like only yesterday we were reading this:
If elected to the majority in Congress, Democrats would implement all of the recommendations of the bipartisan commission that examined the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Well that was pre-election and this is post-election:Â
Rep Bennie Thompson D-Miss., who chairs the House Homeland Security Committee, told reporters that two key provisions of the House bill are unlikely to make it through the Senate.
“With the exception of ports and cargo screening,” he said, “everything else should go through.”
This got me thinking of the left’s reaction to the lax port security in this country:
SCHUMER: INADEQUATE SECURITY POSES SEVERE TERRORIST THREAT TO NY, US PORTS Schumer Says Ships Have Potential to Easily Bring in Weapons of Mass Destruction Including Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Weapons; US Seaports Conduct Over 95% of US Trade, Yet Just 2% of Cargo Inspected; Port Volume Expected To Double Over Next 20 YearsSenator Outlines Legislation To Protect Ports From Terrorism
Conservatives Bow to Industry, Block Amendment to Scan All Shipping Containers
MENENDEZ, CLINTON LEAD RENEWED CALL FOR $1 BILLION INCREASE IN PORT SECURITY FUNDING Senators press for 100 percent cargo container inspections
Press Release of Senator Reid REID: AMERICA DESERVES BETTER ON PORT, TRANSIT SECURITY
Reference: Promises made, promises broken - a retrospective on Pelosi’s 9-11 Commission promises
But keep in mind, with the exception of ports and cargo screeningeverything else should go through.

Hmmm if lax security at US ports poses a severe terrorist threat to US cities, what the hell does the lack of any security on the southern border pose? I’d hazard a guess that it’s a lot easier for terrorists to walk across the border than to swim across the ocean. And of course one Senate Democrat says he’s all in favor of securing the border…. as long as the plan DOESN’T include a fence. Someone should ask him if he has doors on his house to keep intruders out or does he just use motion and infrared sensors to let him know when someone has already broken in.
