First it was the Vietnam Vet’s that were spit on,and now the Iraq Vet’s….As if the spitting wasn’t bad enough, the Capitol Police allowed the protesters to spray paint the Capitol Steps and pose for pictures:
Approximately 300 protesters were allowed to take the steps and began to spray paint “anarchist symbols” and phrase such as “Our capitol building” and “you can’t stop us” around the area, thesource said.
“To get that close to the Capitol building, that is ridiculous,” the second source said. “[Police] were told not to arrest anyone.“
The second source added that police had to stand by and watch as protesters posed in front of their graffiti.
Spitting is disgusting, but I guess if you have no intelligence, it wouldn’t take much to get you to do this to someone!
There were a few tense moments, however, including an encounter involving Joshua Sparling, 25, who was on crutches and who said he was a corporal with the 82nd Airborne Division and lost his right leg below the knee in Ramadi, Iraq. Mr. Sparling spoke at a smaller rally held earlier in the day at the United States Navy Memorial, and voiced his support for the administration’s policies in Iraq.
Later, as antiwar protesters passed where he and his group were standing, words were exchanged and one of the antiwar protestors spit at the ground near Mr. Sparling

Before you get all high and mighty, note that leftists and supposed peaceniks are talking about deporting people who support the War on Terror and Support Amdrica. Well of course it is un-American to the Left because we have defined Patriotism, and it is of course defined in terms of criticism of the current regime! The more criticism, the more patriotic! The more hope, encouragement, and comfort we give to the enemy, directly or indirectly, the more patriotic!
A few points:
[1] Spitting at soldiers is disgusting, except possibly for those who engaged in abusing and torturing prisoners, or those soldiers who used prisoners as forced outlets for their odd little sexual fantasies… they’re a special case.
[2] The second article you linked didn’t mention spitting although the reader wouldn’t know that unless they followed the link, what’s the point?
[3] I’m given to wonder….. does opposition to Georges little adventure automatically make one “left”? I think it was a failed plan from the get go and I am way more anarchist than left, I know conservatives here in Canada who are against his war, are they now lefties? — and what about the Republicans down there who have lost patience with the decider’s failures? Are they lefties now to?
Describing these people as anti-war or (as in the case of people like me) anti-this-war, would be far more accurate — don’t ya think? People who are protesting what has, and continues, to go on in Iraq come from all across the political spectrum. Spitting on our soldiers and otherwise making derogatory remarks to and about them is counterproductive in my opinion. Let’s hope we never have to see them fighting the enemy in our streets outside our homes and in our cities.
