Iran Responsible For Killing US Soldiers In Karbala?

CNN is reporting the Pentagon is seriously investigating Iran’s involvement in the attack, and the Irbil raid was likely a motive for the Qods Force operation:

The Pentagon is investigating whether a recent attack on a military compound in Karbala was carried out by Iranians or Iranian-trained operatives, two officials from separate U.S. government agencies said.”People are looking at it seriously,” one of the officials said. That official added the Iranian connection was a leading theory in the investigation into the January 20 attack that killed five soldiers. The second official said: “We believe it’s possible the executors of the attack were Iranian or Iranian-trained.”

Both officials stressed the Iranian-involvement theory is a preliminary view, and there is no final the second official said.conclusion. They agreed this possibility is being looked at because of the sophistication of the attack and the level of coordination. “This was beyond what we have seen militias or foreign fighters do,”

Some Iraqis speculate that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps carried out the attack in retaliation for the capture by U.S. forces of five of its members in Irbil, Iraq, on January 11, according to a Time.com article published Tuesday.

  2. Time to kick Iran’s ass.

I know, I know, the liberals want to surrender. Well, there is nothing them from flying to Iran and surrendering. I wish they would, then we can take care of business without them holding us back.

  3. Good idea. I’d further suggest that Jane Fonda, Cindy Sheehan, the leaders of this last weekend’s Cut-and-Run rallies, and other prominent loudmouthed idiots assemble and travel to Iran where they can offer the official American anti-war Liberal surrender. Then they will be interned as POWs in Iran and we will not have to put up with them here any more.

  28. “Time to kick Iran’s ass.”

Do you think America should invade Iran? Nuke them? What are you suggesting?

  29. Zelda, we should continue sanctions and talking to other middle eastern countries such as Jordan, Amman and Saudi Arabia (to name a few.)

If sanctions don’t end up working though…..well, that should be decided at another time.

But yes, it’s time to confront Iran.

  30. 3- See this thread

I think Iran will self destruct on its’ own…Sanctions etc can and will work, but we do need to stop those nukes..I am up for suggestions…I just don’t believe Iran is doing it for peaceful purposes..

  31. Iran is once again on the verge of another cultural revolution. The students are not happy about the theocracy that is trying to run the place with an Iron fist and the Mullahs aren’t happy with Mahmoud either for that matter. I expect a far more moderate president to be elected in the near future. I suspect that our invasion of Iraq, the ease with which we rolled over an army that fought Iran to a draw, and over 100,000 US troops on their border is certainly giving the Ayatollahs concern over what might happen should they continue to back such a hard liner as Mahmoud. They’ve had over 25 years of being in power, they’re not likely to want to have it taken away because they backed an ideologue. Even if they did create that ideologue.

  32. Now is the time for the students to revolt…I do understand that their culture is not like ours, nor does it need to be…the elders are fearful that traditions/culture will fade..I can’t say as I blame them..but their can be a middle ground…
